new CA website - 3.1 Grouping and labeling of the content

Post by V1ntage »

On to something more fun. The idea is to list any element you can come up with that you'd put on the website to help us reach the goals we mentioned earlier:
1.2 What are the short- and long-term goals of the site?
short term
* attract new players
* provide visual marketing through flashy graphics which consist primarily of screenshots and videos, secondary storyline and gameplay summary)
* make getting started with CA easy
* make CA look like an attractive and engaging game
* add a wiki-guide to provide a link between the new players and the old; the old players write the content so that new players learn the nuances of the different units more quickly
* attract visual and sound artists

long term
* list news and updates
* offer community features such as a forum for discussion
* provide a central place where visitors can find all needed information (combination of TRAC, wiki, forum,... + external links)
* integrate development functionality such as TRAC provides
* generate recurring interest
* attract developers

I believe we've more or less listed everything that could be used. If you can think of anything else to add, please do so.

This is excellent. Thank you. Much easier to check stuff off now :-)

Edit: Spent a couple minutes organizing them, but there were a few that I'm not sure what they mean.

Any clarification would be nice.

Also, I noticed quite a few "news" items, I'll probably condense them all into one and have them below the intro stuff on the main page. Digg/Reddit doesn't seem very necessary, as this is a game site, not a news site.

We could definitely warrant joining/posting stories to these sites though, to promote some interest/hype. If we worked together as a whole community we might even push ourselves to the front page and reach critical mass [/wishful thinking]

maackey, it's a list of elements that can be put on webpages. Can you elaborate on what you don't precisely understand?

Yes, but a lot of these could be considered duplicates, and some are pretty small/simple. (Plus we aren't doing *all* of these are we? There are a few that I would just as soon leave out as they wouldn't add anything of value)

exactly :) it's a list of what's possible to implement. Afterwards we can pick out the elements with most priority to handle the short term goals.
