Re: Random WIP
manolo, just ignore the troll. I really like those models; very cute. I would suggest you separate the arm from the shovel on the digger. make it two separate arms that it can actually lift and move the shovel thing. Also the bottom left truck's window looks a little flat and tall.

Re: Random WIP
bob, i assume ur making some kind of near in the future world war mod wit nice looking units
and u think i was not capable to add some stuff like hydraulic zylinders or exhausts. would be quickly done, but i reconized argh wanted that low-poly modellslol uberfail who would want to texture those when they can make a much better model in a few mins
Re: Random WIP
Yes, I'd prefer to keep the polycount down. If I want to add details, I can certainly do that myself. Modeling's the easy part, after all.
Quick stuff like that in Wings is super-nice, though, since I can just lay out the uvmaps and get them ready to paint really quickly, and I enjoy stuff I might not think up myself, like that loader.
If anybody else wants stuff to do... I need more buildings. Preferably buildings designed with pieces so they can be destroyed. I don't care about the designs- it can be modern, ancient, sci-fi, or even specific cultural stuff, like a Mayan temple or a Japanese castle. Try to avoid stuff that's just a pile of cubes or abstract designs, though.
Tricount < 1000, if possible, but with enough detail to be pretty impressive when normalmapped. Just be aware of scale- a tiny park bench had better have no more than 50 triangles, whereas you can probably use 1000 on a fairly detailed Neoclassical building with columns etc., for example.
Just for future reference, the tires seemed very narrow to me, when I compared the vehicles with snapshots on Google. Other than that, most of them actually aren't bad, in terms of representing the base geometry of the vehicles. I think Chaosmonkey will be surprised to see what they look like when skinned and given a normalmap.

Re: Random WIP
Just two flood-lights? And btw - they look more like giant fly flaps because they're way too tilted. You'll probably need more than flat polies if you want to do them more upright standing...
You also should be able to save some polies where the "seats" would be...

Re: Random WIP
yes but even with the low poly's those vehicles are out of shape in every possible way and not even a good texture could cover up the failmanolo_ wrote:and u think i was not capable to add some stuff like hydraulic zylinders or exhausts. would be quickly done, but i reconized argh wanted that low-poly modellslol uberfail who would want to texture those when they can make a much better model in a few mins
Re: Random WIP
Hey... again, with the not-niceness.
Seriously. dude, chill out. You're not giving useful critique here- saying, "that sucks" isn't helpful.
If he's screwing up on dimensions in a major or obvious way, fine, Google up a picture of the relevant vehicle, let's see where it's wrong and fix it. That's actually somewhat useful.
But keep in mind that it's not that important anyhow, these are just props, not the basis for "Construction Warz: Attack of the Dump Trucks" or whatever.

Re: Random WIP
nice manolo, cant wait to see these in worldbuilder!
Re: Random WIP
Cool models manolo. I especially like the soccer stadium, and the fast food donuts place. You even captured the essence of lard lad. He might need some additional fattage though. =D

Re: Random WIP
i was serious about the loader, i liked it, and i do think low poly models can look bad ass for various props.
anyways heres some screens of the prettiest piece of shit that doesnt work and i cant figure it out so far. i suck at spring, fucking thing wont shoot at other air but loves to play dogfight.

i hate it, but it looks good

Re: Random WIP
te donut man is just for lulz, the restaurant looks like a burerkin/mcD (with drive-in at the backside - tricount was somethin like 500-600 for the buildin and 300 for the man)

Re: Random WIP
With the stadium, just a tip - you should probably remove the 'floor' pieces. The grass etc can and should be done by ground decal / scar / whatever it's called. Using a model for that sort of thing can result in clipping problems with the world (ie you get bits of terrain poking up through the 'floor' model)
