Mutilple install problem

Just wanted to make the devs aware of this to avoid in the future:

I ran into some weird problems when I installed:

Spring, last version: Program Files\Spring
Spring, 0.8.0: Program Files\Spring80
Spring, 0.8.0.2: Program Files\Spring802

Then I went to start the lobby (Spring802\Spring.exe > "Start Lobby") and it only found my old copy of Spring. Said I was using one that was too old. Says I've gotta re-download...

Solution was to copy my Maps/Mods/Lua directories to Spring802, delete the Spring folder, rename Spring802 to Spring. Now everything's fine.

SpringLobby's just not looking in the right place. It should be able to tell what directory it's located in and check the version of Spring in THAT folder, not the one that I'm guessing is specified in the Registry.

There's probably a similar problem going on with people who have multiple installs and ArchiveMover moving it to one they don't want... and probably SpringLobby copying downloaded files to the wrong installation. Maybe have a discussion how this should be handled.

ArchiveMover moves stuff to "Documents/My Games". Every spring installation will look there, that path is hardcoded.

Not on Windows 7, apparently. I have a Documents\My Games\Spring directory but it's completely empty. And archive mover moves things to Program Files\Spring\mods or Program Files\Spring\maps, as the case may be, quite consistently.

Is it possible that you still use the old archivemover?

I have no idea. When was the behavior updated?

I installed Spring on this particular computer for the first time about a month ago.

I don't think I've tried running ArchiveMover since updating to 8.0.2.

IIRC, 0.80.0 did not had it.

Ah never mind about that then. I've not direct-downloaded any Spring content since updating.
