Who to report to?
Moderator: Moderators
Re: Who to report to?
We all make mistakes.
Even if Det made one does not mean he is the devil.
IMO,However, moderators should also have rules about misconduct which should be available for all to read and know so that if(although we are all human) a moderator makes a mistake his privileges get taken for a certain period and his misconduct is recorded just like with regular users.
I'm not saying it is so but forming a clique of friends or associates in the moderation team should be avoided shouldn't it?
There should be a constant rotation of moderation and moderators need to have strict rules about their conduct.

Especially if they show signs of mental instability, such as playing CA.Gota wrote:I'm not saying it is so but forming a clique of friends or associates in the moderation team should be avoided shouldn't it?

Re: Who to report to?
What does this have to do with cliques? This has nothing to do with moderation because Regret is wrong. He trolled a game, got kicked out, proceeded to troll in #main by insulting det, CA, and the moderation team all at once, at which point he was finally muted.
Why do you play CA if every word out of your mouth is hate for it? Just go away, pretend like we don't exist, and we'll pretend like you don't exist. This has gone on long enough.
I'm almost starting to think this is real:

You are bending what happened. The two reported events in first post are unrelated to eachother except in the mutes from det.CarRepairer wrote:What does this have to do with cliques? (logically I can't get muted and then proceed to talk from the same account..?)

In the first one you said CA team is retarded and CA includes cheats.Regret wrote:You are bending what happened. The two reported events in first post are unrelated to eachother except in the mutes from det.

In the second one you called det a moron and made fun of moderation.
I didn't mix the two up, I was refering to the first one in my last post.
Re: Who to report to?
You mixed them up. I did not complain about getting muted for obviously trolling det with calling him a moron and that they should make more lcc mods.CarRepairer wrote:In the first one you said CA team is retarded and CA includes cheats.

I complained about Drone getting muted for saying that det is a noob.

Drone is Sheep.
Those mutes were unessecery.
All LCC/CA Devs/#Peet regulars should be removed from moderation and reelections should be held. If any of the current moderators were any good then they will obviously be reelected regardless of the way they became a moderator in the first place.
Re: Who to report to?
I know I'n sidetracking but:
What would happen if instead of automatically saying that moderators will be hated and hence should get immunity we have complete transparency and allow players to discuss a moderation ruling and than allow people to vote upon it?
If moderators get it wrong many times they get removed out of the moderation staff,at least for a while.
I know at first it will be unpleasant but after a while moderators will only moderate in clear cut cases or will not moderate when they are involved in any way in the misdemeanor.
Why not allow the community to pick it's own moderation?with strict rules there should be no reason why this wont work.
It will ensure moderation will not be so hated by the community and will only do what the moderation rules tell it and the community wants.
If the rules are expended and are detailed enough there should be no need for a moderator to do much thinking if he knows the rules and if the rules are well put.
Moderators should also be required to specify the law the user broke when they punish him to make sure everyone is officially familiar with whats right and whats wrong.
There should be head moderator that will not deal with users in any way but will only deal with taking care of the moderation staff and excluding moderators and hiring new ones based on misdemeanors and other stuff.
If all is done correctly than we will not have moderators that allow none PG13 material or moderators that do nothing or ignore users or much hate towards the "ivory tower" moderation in the way we have it now.
I'm not actually suggesting this be implemented now
I'm just throwing this idea for all of you to think about.

This pretty much sums it up.CarRepairer wrote:Awesome! You show a quote out of context, then Chaosmonkey/Drone gives away the fact that det was politely trying to resolve a problem when you decided to insult moderation for no reason at which point he joins you in trolling. How cool is that!600000second mute in #main for calling someone a noob, there was no prior conversation from [Fx]Drone.

Re: Who to report to?
I am reforming the system but that won't be a mechanism for it, Jaz.
Regret, you discuss problems with the moderator who brought it up, or you bring it to somebody else when that route has proved ineffective, as you did for both this and when aegis muted you - you brought it to me. Just because you bring it up, though, doesn't mean the moderator handling the oversight will repeal it - I could affirm it or I could simply not make a decision. I decided to take the opportunity to discuss it as a team, with Det and others - I personally could not say whether his actions were or were not justified, given that I have only incomplete logs and am accused of bias in both directions.
We are creating standards, but change takes time and effort. I am working with a variety of people to change things, and I must admit that the result will probably satisfy nobody entirely, but you're not going to see changes any sooner through a lack of patience. All of your suggestions are noted; I have almost three hundred pages of material from the last three months which I have perused and evaluated - and I continue to invite further input through private messages.
I am going to contact SwiftSpear and ask him to turn over his responsibilities to me formally so we can order some things better in the meantime.

Re: Who to report to?
Just wanna add again, while we are at it,that I think more precise and encompassing rules are needed explaining the allowed and not allowed behavior for users and moderators.

Re: Who to report to?
I do not know that those logs are complete, Regret. I cannot accept the input of either party as accurate, I need a third party point of view for an accurate and defensible appraisal.
There will be such, Gota.

Re: Who to report to?
Then check the server logs as you cannot trust anything anybody gives besides a machine. We're all out to get you btw. Tinfoil hat.neddiedrow wrote:I do not know that those logs are complete, Regret. It isn't paranoia, it is good practice. I like to minimize any possible mistakes.
