How does height advantage work? I seem to recall tags for controlling the sort of bonus given to weapons based on how high they are like on a hill.
What were the tags and how does that work?

Re: STUPID QUESTION TIEM!
try playing around with heightBoostFactor weapondef tag. works only for cannon type weapons and its behaviour can't be really cleanly described. you'll have to experiment with values from ~0.1 to about ~20, depending on projectile's gravity and velocity.

Re: STUPID QUESTION TIEM!
damn, adding that to missile weapons would be great for lrms
Re: STUPID QUESTION TIEM!
all/most/some/dunno other weapons should support a tag called heightMod which affects range calculations in a different way which can't really be cleanly described either ;p

Then make them ballistic with smoke CEGs. Spring missiles are designed primarily for direct fire missiles, not rocket artillery and only rocket artillery stands a chance of getting a range boost.bobthedinosaur wrote:damn, adding that to missile weapons would be great for lrms
Re: STUPID QUESTION TIEM!
hopefully the BA devs, if they exist, will add that to the gaurdians(the plasma turret that no one builds) so they can actually DO something.
Edit: yeah, unless you count all of the non-rocket artillery that are also fired at a high ground at a reasonable angle. a cannonball fired on a high mountain won't land in the same place as it would fired on the ground (there aren't cannons in spring but that doesn't matter)

Well that's what I will have to do. Thanks.
