Spring randomly freezes after playing for about 30 minutes

hi

im using spectator mode and it is on deltaseigex map. ive only ever tried spring this way. i use 2 same AIs against each other. After about 30 minutes of watching the AIs build anf fight, the whole PC screen frezes. I cannot alt tab out. only way is use the hard reset button. Tried it 3x same map same setup. Same crash. (using BA mod v0.79 or so)

any suggestions welcome !

You managed to to last 30 minutes?

I had a 9250 and 768MB of ram and it was barely playable... So I totally feel your pain... did it acctually work well for you before the current version?

it did work very well before the 30 minutes crash... !

i Like this Game a Lot! (since i am a big fan of original TA)

but-- i thought the minimum system specs for TA said I can play on a P1600 and 512meg ram? Especially since I only had one map and 2 AIs and I was only spectating? I also turned off every video enhancement. It still crashed :/

Does it mean Spring just cannot run on my level of PC even if I turn off all the video / sound options?

You can replace that video card for almost nothing and you'll reap a world of benefits. The 9200 series was the budget line from... 9 years ago? Somewhere around there. Just find a cheap 7xxx series Geforce card with an AGP slot on ebay or kijiji, they'll probably pay you to take it away.

Alternatively you could try a different mod. XTA with the advanced rendering options disabled doesn't usually get played with a large number of units so you won't have such a hard time.

Re: Spring randomly freezes after playing for about 30 minutes

well i still get this annoying random freezes in like 10% of games. Usually after 30+ minis.. screen freeze and all i can do is tab out and kill spring.exe (which no longer consumes cpu)

This was fine in 078 :roll:
