I agree.

An example os a troublesome forum user who didn't seem to have much to contribute was AF (abreviation for Atlantean Firestarter [edit]- joking[/edit]). For a long time all he seemed capable of was creating forum confusion. But, with time, he started to growing from the "doing this would rock, i am going to do this and that and that" to someone who actualy *does* stuff. That would have not happened if he was outcasted from the forum comunity.

Off course(?), new (and old) members must be forced to behave.

I always treated AF with at least a little respect because of his AI stuff. He clearly had talent and wanted to be helpful, regardless of his other actions. As long as someone actually has the potential to be *useful*, and has attitudes that aren't flamebait, I treat them as respected peers, regardless of other considerations. If someone hasn't proven themselves, or they're just players (of any skill level), I don't have a problem with them either.

HOWEVER. If someone starts off like this:
http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=19749
they can leave an never come back and I'll consider it a positive development.

If someone's having a technical problem and asks a "dumb" question that's ok too, since not everyone's a geek like me.

In short, as long as there is an explanation that doesn't involve the individual being 13 or under and illiterate, and asking questions before taking the most basic, obvious steps to find the answer/solution on their own.

I think most other people here act and feel similarly on the subject. As a result, we have a community positively overflowing with talent. The forum has IMHO no correlation to actual player base. You do not need to register on the forum to play the game. Springlobby downloads mods and maps for you, no research is required.

I saw that was a joke, but I don't know what was up with Caydr's name being half right half wrong when he had a post slightly above yours.

The Xenophobe vs the Newbie.

(not calling anyone a xenophobe flame warrior. Just pointing out some interesting similarities with the discussion at hand and because i find so funny the flame warriors rooster)

I feel that your self-appraisal is quite inaccurate.

Of course, as a Diplomat, I will continue to get precisely what I deserve.

Sometimes we're too nice, even when people are being jerks. See these three posts by the same jerk, particularly the first one:

See, if I'd replied to that guy it would've just been one thread and he would've thanked me for teaching him how to be a man.
He playfully chases interesting threads, and from time to time uses a Newbie or Propellerhead as a convenient scratching post. He enjoys being stroked or petted, and tends to purr loudly. CAUTION: Don't be fooled by his fuzzy, playful exterior. When provoked, Big Cat reacts with lightning speed and almost always lands on his feet after an attack. Big Cat often indulges himself by toying with his victim before delivering his lethal blows.
That's me. Oh yes. Especially using newbies and propellerheads (some categories omitted, strangely) as scratching posts. Also, I have never, ever been wrong, which means I always land on my feet. Case closed.

If I was to pick a second class though, it would obviously be evil clown, except for the part where it says I'm not very powerful and I need to do anything to avoid defeat. Defeat avoids me.

OK, I can much more rationally say, it has a lot to do with how much sleep I've had in the last 48 hours. The last couple weeks I was off work, which meant 2-5 hours a night on the days I actually went to bed, and modding at least 70% of the remaining time.

The less sleep I get, the more I shift towards getting my thrills from making other people want to kill me. Frankly, I did pretty good, all things considered. Why hasn't anyone sent me a picture of Smoth being fashionable with his iphone yet? Reward is up to $20. $22.50.

Guys aren't pretty, they're bishounen. I have that effect on girls, they get all tongue tied and start screaming for me to leave them alone when in their eyes I can see they want more.
