Plasma Shields break my CPU


some time ago, like months, after a BA update (I think it was after the BA update, might have been the engine update though) plasma shields started looking much better than they did before....

unfortunately these shields fuck up my CPU for some reason, the moment a shield is built anywhere on the map, my CPU instantly goes to 100% dropping FPS to 0,5....FPS is "normal" at pause. Destroying the shield sometimes reverts my CPU to normal, other times not.

I have all settings on lowest.Tried the usual, FPSmanager and so on, disabled that thing in F11 which i dont remember what was called


any ideas??? ATI Mobility radeon x1300 btw, on an old laptop thats like 1,7Ghz centrino duo....that used to play spring just fine until this shit started happening

I had exactly the same problem with the new BA/Spring versions. I have a Mobility Radeon x700. I solved it by updating the graphics card driver with the newest (custom, others wont work on notebooks) version:

Edit:
New spring versions apparently have issues with old video drivers. I' ve seen a few threads about this in Help & Bugs already. Maybe someone should make a "If you have an old notebook" sticky there.

it's the lups shield effect I believe, idk if you can test an olddd version of BA to see if it still happens?

Solution may be to remove this effect since the cons seem to outweigh the pros

I might install the borked driver again later to test.

But the bug appeared first after updating from BA 6.95 to BA 6.96. After it first occured, for some reasons it also appeared with BA 6.95.

edit: too lazy to test now, must work on diploma thesis now anyway. i had video game free month in juli and now also in august, with only a few day exception the first days of august
