Ew, no. How the hell am I supposed to balance my mod if every single game host can change several signifigant balance variables via a big giant pop up list of gross. Options are fine and dandy, but they should be explored by the developers, not the players. Either way, the scout in XTA with ghosting simply removed becomes useless. It doesn't stay alive long enough right now to manually scout targets. If you remove ghosting the scout needs a beef, which I would argue makes an overall far more satisfying scouting experiance for anyone willing to get good at scouting.Masse wrote:you ppl do remember that this is not TA its SPRING its suppose to have/get all new fancy features some are usefull more than others... but every feature "should be" included and be ON/OFF able from lobby by the one who hosts game...
betalord... please make some advanced options button that brings up huge list of options

The point is my idea should be being discussed.Warlord Zsinj wrote:Vehementi, your habit of describing opposing arguments as "meaningless" is unconstructive and makes you come off as rather arrogant. I suggest rethinking your mode of argument if you do not want to offend the opposing side; otherwise we will just be yelling at each other, not listening to each other.
I realise Storm is no better (probably worse), but I think it's just his passionate mode of communication as opposed to any real intended offense. I've argued with him many times in TAU (politically we are at polar ends); he usually has some worthwhile things to say once you get around the swearing and name calling - perhaps he has online tourrettes?
To those who post unrelated things such as:My suggestion > this whole thread/idea/off-topic nonsense.Shouldn't read this thread. If it annoys you that the argument appears to be going nowhere, just stop reading this thread, and don't litter it with unnecessary things.marmite is tasty!

p.s. Storm > Zsinj

I want a game where strategy and multitasking are more important than reflexes and clicking quickly, and that is why I play TA instead of C&C/Starcraft/other genaric RTS. But I still want reflexes to provide an edge.Zaphod wrote:I completely agree, also, if you want a game of strategy only, play a turn-based strategy game.TA is about overview and control and secondary about strategy. There are a lot of reflexes tied to control even if you remove scouting alltogether.
I think that Spring is to TA what TA is to starcraft. Spring added immense strategic complexity, while dulling the effect of reflexes, to TA. Just as TA added immense strategic complexity, while dulling the effect of reflexes, to the stardard RTS.
And I do play turned based strategy games, but I don't like having as much time as you want to come up with your strategy and tactics, and I don't like all of the unrealistic "X unit attacks Y unit and kills it, while taking no damage, Then Z unit takes Y units place and attacks W unit." In other words, I don't like how events take place in a certain order, instead of everything happening at once.
I also think that SUPCOM will be even more strategic than Spring.
