LOS resolution

Post by Google_Frog »

I was playing a game recently and noticed that your LOS resolution is very high. I checked and LOS was up to 15% mid to late game. The LOS resolution could be lowered to make this negligible without changing the gameplay.

Theres not alot of information on these tags, what numbers would you reccomend, and if you know how these tags work? explain them to me?
[Sensors]
{
[Los]
{
LosMipLevel=1;
AirLosMipLevel=2;
LosMul=1.1;
AirLosMul=1.1;
}
}

[13:35:02] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> i think losmul and airlosmul are just multipliers
[13:35:16] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> the miplevels control the resoution of the losmap
[13:35:23] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> higher = lower resolution but faster
[13:35:45] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> i believe the map square size is equal to 8 * 2^mipLevel
[13:36:24] <[Cox]Length> they dnt seem to work S: i tried radically different large and small numbers
[13:36:31] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> you may want to bump the land one up to 3 and the air one up to 4 or so
[13:36:41] <[Cox]Length> but saw on the L button, when it displays line of sight the same
[13:36:55] <[Cox]Length> is that misguided?
[13:36:59] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> it shouldn't change the actual los much, just the resolution
[13:37:14] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> lower = better accuracy, higher = faster performance
[13:37:40] <[Cox]Length> ok thank you for ur time
[13:37:44] <[W]Evil4Zerggin> 'welcome
