Observations/bugs/comments/questions for XTA

Hi,
I must say I quite like XTA - it's just the least buggy mod I've tried so far and it keeps most of the TA stuff while making some funky improvements.

Some points though:

a) Bug - If I click "area attack" and select somewhere, sometimes I get LUA errors pop up in the console telling me that math.random recieved a number that was too small (or something to that effect).

b) question/suggestion - What does "area attack" actually do? I'd suggest re-writing the comment for it to make it clear what it does.

c) bug? - Many units have "repeat" OR "stop" buttons that shouldn't have them. I.e. Radars.

d) suggestion - The "wait" button is nice and useful, but could it possibly be a "toggle" button. Either change the text from "wait" to "go" when the unit is waiting, or light the button up when it is toggled.

e) suggestion - Aircraft have the funky "land at x% health" option (which is nice!). May I suggest putting this option onto the aircraft plants too, such that the aircraft can inheret the setting from the plant they were made at.

f) question - What's the shortcut for "select all units of the type already selected"? Because ctrl-z doesn't work (what it was in TA), and I've tried a few others which also don't work.

g) question - What's the shortcut to select the Commander? Ctrl-C seems to do funny things with the camera.
Is there a list of XTA shortcuts somewhere?

h) Bug - Playing on 1280*1024 resolution - If I create a unit-group number 0, it appears on the bottom bar (which is a very nice bar btw ;-) ), but half of the icon is off the right side of the screen (i.e. it doesn't fit on the screen).

i) bug - Building times are shown in minutes if that's how long they'll take (nice feature). But if a building has been abandoned whilst being built and has a red number to show time until it disappears - that number will always be in seconds (i.e. 300 seconds rather than 5 minutes).

j) bug - If I tell a structure to "force attack" - there's a good chance it won't actually do that. I.e. get a heavy laser to attack somewhere that is in range, but it doesn't fire at some places when this order is given, even though they're in range/los etc.

k) bug - The "resurrect" animation icon appears when you mouse-over wreckage that cannot be resurrected (i.e. half-destroyed wreckage that has no shape). Clicking does nothing. You have to manually select "reclaim".

A very nice mod overall though.

noruas is the only dev at the moment and the last version was released in 28.03.09, so we hope next version will come soon

are u using iceui? or some konf od areaattack widget?, please post the whole error-message here

im not sure, but it came with the last spring update

lua-time, ask in the lua-sub-forum so somebody could write a gadget/widget for it

double click on one unit type to select all units of the same kind within the screen or use the z-selector-widget

ctrl+c works fine or download the auto group com widget (immo group 1) - change it to the griup u want

press ctrl+f11 and drag and drop it, seems to be a widget problem

also no mod bug, its a widget problem (go to lua sub forum)

depends on terrain, maybe behind hill or something liek that

Area attack - the unit(s) will attack within a certain area, eg bombers bombing solar farms/tighly packed bases etc

I think the rez thing is a spring bug?

I'm using whatever the default is. I've not changed anything.

I'm fairly sure I tried double-clicking and it didn't work. Also Dbl-clicking is a pain for fast-moving units (i.e. hawks/vamps), and I'd imagine will only select that one unit type.

Ok. I was just wondering because things like the Annihilator have it too, and that hardly seems suited to area-attacking.

doubleclicking selects all units of the same type that are currently visible on your screen, if a unit belongs to a group it will select the group, ctrl + z does work here. (though i have to use ctrl + y coz i have a german keyboard and the both letters are swapped, maybe you have a similar problem?)
Ctrl+c definitely doesn't work.
I'm using it ALL the time :lol:

widgets are lil helper, when u press f11 ingame u see a list of them, both main lobbys (tasclient and springlobby) have widget-downloader included (SL-downloads --> widget downloader IIII tasclient --> easy downloadable with seperate springdownloader). activate/download/delete the widgets u want to use

im not sure, but i think group 0 isnt possible

Group 0 works for me. It also appears correctly for me in UnitGroups v5.1 (gui_unitgroups5_1_xta.lua) which I believe is the icon bar that he's referring to. His problem may be his screen resolution. I haven't looked deeply enough into the code to tell.

moriarty: Have you tried moving UnitGroups to the bottom instead of the side? Used the shrink setting?

manolo_ - Ahhh, I have seen that F11 list. I'll have to play with it some more. Though downloading via the lobby is no use to me (no internet at home). Thanks

I've not tried moving or changing anything. I'm still at the point where I'm trying to figure out what does and doesn't work (see all the shortcuts that don't work for me but do for others :-/ ).
Note - my unit group list is at the bottom, not the side.

Note - my unit group list is at the bottom, not the side.
thats why u should move it ;)
