Yeah, and we understand when that happens. And there's the comment function, so that problem can be rectified.
However, when we post comments asking for the missing item (almost exclusively the gametype), we never get a response and no one ever bothers to learn from it, uploading more without the data we ask for...
That's the difference between forgetting once and not having any intention of following guidelines to begin with.
Replays and you!

I am a totalitarian and I don't have endless time in my hands. I won't plow my face into the keyboard to learn a quirk that will improve the uploading for about ten files monthly. If any of you design such a tool, I would be more than happy to install it, but until then, I'll just drop all the shit in the unknown folder and laugh at it.1- continue to strugle with people that seem to, no matter what, forget to give all the info.
2- arrange for an exception handling for stuff that doesn't meet the criteria needed for proper handling of the website (meaning, ease up the burden on the admins).
As I see it, I am just a storage area. If any of you actually want your stuff to be downloaded, you better try to promote it yourself. I do it sometime, when I consider a creation is worthy to mention, but quite frankly, if no one gets your replay to work, I don't give a fuck. Tag your stuff properly or it will drop in the trash folder, your call.
Now we're talking...And since I was bored I made a solution that should do these things: http://www.hut.fi/~jpjaaske/public/uploads.php. It's only half-way done (and not tested), since I couldn't be bothered to waste too much time not knowing if you're ready to implement such a feature, but it would then give all the info about the game so that you could eg. show the players and teams on the download page.
I checked it out and it seems clean enough... However, from what I've seen, there are several ongoing standards for replays. The game is not always displayed, sometimes there's a date in it and so on. If someone could prove me there's one unison standard, I'd go for it.
Yes, the problem is that atm the version has to be dug up from the filename, which means you'd have to have some kind of a backup method anyhow. If that would be fixed, there wouldn't be a problem, since all the data is taken from the file contents, which people can't accidentally change and which will most likely stay unchanged in future versions too (even though new data might be added).I checked it out and it seems clean enough... I filed a bug report/feature request for this to be changed.
