What is with right-click mode? I'm bout to break my keyboard
What is with this weird right-click mode? I'm 'bout to break my keyboard.
Sorry, you'll just have to get used to it. As of now it can't be changed.
Uh seriously?? is there no way to change this?

from a psychological perspective, can you learn to play the game properly if you refuse to adjust to a simple thing like clicking with the other finger?

Touch├®.
Also this should be in general help, not here. Since its nothing to do with BA.
*edit for being ninja'd* Well, as you read in the help file, the answer is no. Also, Spring != 'TA in 3d', you may choose to view it that way, but if thats what you want go play TA3d.

spring is an engine, not a game.
oh, and it's changeable.

A common reaction but this does not help here unfortunately.shinpickle wrote:omg pwnt by u l33t douches.

Took me monthes and lots of pain to adjust. I still wish TA "left click" mode was supported.
Is this a lie?aegis wrote:oh, and it's changeable.

I can think of four ways to change it.zwzsg wrote:Is this a lie?aegis wrote:oh, and it's changeable.

Then tell me which!
Because I'm pretty sure that all them simply invert left and right mouse buttons, instead of replicating TA's left click interface.

I really like the current control system, it's simple, dynamic and easy to learn, I have a harder time going back to other RTSs then I did adjusting to Spring...
Also, what's no to like, left mouse you specify specific targets and commands, right mouse gives contextual orders.

Its really very intuitive. Although having a way of remapping all controls would make sense, its a common feature in games.SinbadEV wrote:Also, what's no to like, left mouse you specify specific targets and commands, right mouse gives contextual orders and middle button moves the camera [depending on view mode, i think]

Get a left handed mouse.
I agree the option should be there. But really, almost all RTSs use right click mode. I think even TA had a right click mode option.
Actually you could probably swap the buttons with uikeys.txt if you unbound everything from both buttons then rebound it the way you want it.

Re: What is with right-click mode? I'm bout to break my keyboard
This is a philosophical issue for Spring. Should there be work put in to develop a strictly inferior method of input?
Let's get the facts straight: you will never ever ever be able to play as well with the old left-click style as you will with the new right click style (yes even TA had both as an option, but starcraft and warcraft only used rightclick and all games use it now).
It would be like playing baseball but insisting you only swing the bat with one hand. Sure, you could practice and practice and eventually get good at it that way. But you'd always be much better holding it with two.
So if you are used to the lesser method, suck it up and start learning the right way even if it feels weird at first. Otherwise you'd only be limiting yourself.
(To offset my jerk-ness, I'll say that if it were trivial to add the old method of input as an option then it couldn't hurt. But if it were to take any dev effort at all, it's not worth it.)
