Spring Lobby Crashes on Connect

Post by D_Toaster »

I'll be the first to admit that my Search-Fu is not strong. But I did spend the bulk of the day looking for similar posts. ^_^

(I'm going to try to skip the details of Newbie perspective and frustration in this post)

I installed a few days ago, got things working. To be quick and dirty I chose a Chat handle from the old days of playing on Boneyards OTA server. Got some advice on how to acquire maps and mods, and played a singleplayer game.

Feeling confident now in myself, I disconnected and reconnected and Provided a New username and PW.

Upon Clicking connect, I got all kinds of errors.
so; deterred I switched back to the original Username. but now that causes the client to crash.

I can not connect or open the lobby at all, or the Spring Lobby dies within seconds.
I have tried a fresh install, but uninstalling doesn't clear the login nFo or the Torrents.

I did see a post about files located in \[user]\local\virtual store\ that i'll have to check when i get home.
But I would also really like some comments and feedback if anyone has similar experience.

(details may be provided later-not home right now-)

Virtual store is a Vista issue and there are numerous threads about it already. If you haven't already, next time you uninstall -> install a new version be sure to put it somewhere other than in /Program Files/.

This issue was resolved yesterday, thanks for reminding me to update.

Installing to other Directorys had no effect.

The answer finally came from finding and deleting the springlobby.conf file from:
C:\Documents and Settings\Login\Application Data\Springlobby\
