Well i got to agree that alot would probelly be a lot better parent than some straight couples are.

I am, although i think it is irrelevant in the context (See below). I only added the hint in to justify lobbing an insult.
Gota wrote:I liked how you wrote about the gorillas...so your saying it is ok to have sex with your kids?
Maybe that we should think about makign this acceptable?
Dads marrying their daughters mothers their sons...Sure why not..Live and let live, right?
Guess what, this is human society,we are not chimps or dolphins or guerrillas.
Sure we are a lot like them, but we are not them.
By your reasoning incest should be accepted and even people making kids with all sorts of defects cause of genetic similarity of the parents..
I mean,so what if the kids have high chances of being defected? who says we should not allow them to be as well?
Except the biological and genetic issues there is also the social aspect.
My argument is thus, and i forgive you for not picking it up I got very lost in that section.

Members of the Social right brand behavior that does not fit into their world view as unnatural. This is a flawed argument, just about no behavior is unnatural. I'm not suggesting that incest should be socially acceptable; not even once with a really really hot cousin when you were 14. Certain social constructs exist for a pretty good reason, and certain ones don't. The fact that smoking is acceptable is one that exists and probably shouldn't. I believe that homosexuality is something that should be made fully acceptable for the following reasons.

1: Its not a decision.
2: It cannot be changed.
4: It is a naturally occurring process.
3: There are no negative consequences for individuals.
4: There are no negative consequences for greater society.
5: It occurs in a relatively high proportion.
6: The only opposition is based around cultural norms developed during the dark ages (which are named thus for a good reason).

I think only the summation of those points gives weight to my point. Any one of them alone is not enough.
Gota wrote:This is how i see these issues:
Society accepts something but rejects other things.
For whatever reasons it make these choices there are no generally good or bad ones...
As far as i see it,it is a battle of wills.
Gay people fight to be recognized and to normalize their behavior while some religious groups(for example) fight against it.
What is the better position?there is none except, what you yourself decide is better(probably based on your own view of the world)..
If I do not think gay is ok than i will be against gay rights as i do not want to see the society i live in soaked in it.
My reasons would be a matter of habit,or religious issues or whatever else there is out there but it doesn't matter..I(for the sake of argument) want society in a certain state while gay people want it in another. Why should i succumb to their desire?it does not please me.why should i adopt to it?
How liberal should society be?Can you tell me if it is better for Society to be more liberal for the long run?why is that better for me if i am already considered normal?
As i said i see it as a battle of points of view.
At the end nothing is more right in some absolute way So the only reason for someone to be advocating gay rights is cause he is gay or someone he cares about is gay and wants gay rights.
There is no better or worse for society.
It just exists and whoever or whatever group has more influence or power to influence steers society to a certain direction...
I have 1 minor gripe.

You are asking to enforce your will, when the outcomes will have no actual impact on your life in any way. However, your will will reduce the quality of life for other people. The specific topic here is gay marriage, which sure is somewhat a little further down the chain of quality-of-life than dragging gays behind a ute. But the point stands; there is a fundamental difference between actively protecting your way of life and protecting your world-view.

Your argument could be successfully applied to slavery. And that's the problem, you have framework that you are trying to turn into a argument. But there is a gaping hole in the premises means your framework can only be applied selectively based on some unspoken other criteria.

And if you are asking if it alright to negatively impact on someone elses life based only on your emotional response, then no.
Gota wrote:IN these cases there is no absolute "better POV"only a personal "better" or "worse".
My View cannot be better than your view in an absolute manner only from my perspective and it is my job,if i care about my world view enough and oppose yours enough, for whatever reasons(which are all bogus from the point of view that is outside of humanity),to make sure i manage to come up with a good way of convincing everyone my view is best by making arguments based on "reason" or other "facts" and "evidance" which i can substantiate as such.
You are right, arguing over points of view is fruitless waste of time. This certainly stands true if you are arguing over which color jelly bean tastes the best. However, what we are talking about here is morals and legislative policy. What you should be constructing is not a 'point of view' or 'opinion'; this is a terribly way to think about either. It is the fundamental flaw in the practical implementation of democracy. This has to be a rational discussion using logical arguments, otherwise the winner is the one who can shout louder and not the argument that is 'right'. When you break it down to logic and rationalization; there is a better argument. I would not call it absolutes, i don't believe in that as a concept. But there will always be an argument that is more right.

If you try and enter a discussion like this will only a point-of-view, you should not be in the same room. you have already lost.

First of all...gay marriage has no effect on my life,perhaps...this is why if it was a matter of going past me gay people would have their rights cause i don't care enough to pres as hard as they do...
People that do care a lot obviously are sure this will effect their lives substantially.

Just like you can give arguments why gay marriage is good someone else can do the opposite and there wont be an objective individual that would be able to say who is more right if he respects the opinions and convictions of both people.

And it mostly is about who shouts louder.Look back in history.
It's even more true to say that the one who shouts louder IS the one who is more correct in society's POV since he makes the shots and is later remembered as the more correct one.

My true opinion is that there is no more right opinion in an absolute sense..
However i will claim there is when I need something to be accepted.
I think people who will claim there is a truly more right position in this argument are either just saying it so they can persuade the rest to change or are self deluded.

Needs and desires and feelings like compassion are outside of our control...If i feel no compassion to others why should i help them if it in turn will not help me?
If i do feel compassion towards gay couples how can i be rational if I'm already inclined towards their needs?
You can bombard me with arguments all day and than someone with a better understanding of the subject matter will come and prove you wrong and so on...This i not math, this issue is interpretable and unclear and thus anyone smart enough can manipulate and form arguments to his favor...
Here comes the mastery of oratory and persuasion.
Hence it is clear,at least to me,that ultimately there is no completely right or wrong opinion there is only someone who cares more about a subject matter.

If you want to try and persuade me gay marriage is right your doing the right things but if decide you want to speak honestly for a moment i am sure you will agree there is no "more" right side.
Laws and rules are also interpretable and everything around them like enforcement...this is why we have courts and lawyers..Laws are the framework and representatives of a society's moral code thus if we decide people have the right to have sex with children as a society we will have no laws forbidding it..
Obviously laws can be "wrong" since it is laws that do not allow gay people to have rights..
Your saying its a matter of logical arguments and making laws and make the connection between the two.
This would mean there must have been some good arguments in favor of making this law(against gay rights of whatever nature) in the first place..If you say this law is wrong than maybe your reasoning is wrong as well and you are just not yet aware of it yet you want laws to be made.

interesting book review
http://www.genomenewsnetwork.org/articl ... review.php

I personally just assumed that humans, because we are so adaptable, are all bisexual, have obvious reasons for heterosexual desire (securing species future), and usually avoid the head of social taboos. However many cultures through out history were bisexual, or more or less sexual opportunists. Because of social normatives and other traditional westernized blindness to a history of human character we almost see these issues as a novel argument, but they have always been around and will always remain around.

That's just my 2 cents.

Look at greece and roman societies..
In some cases pedophile behavior was acceptable and homosexuality was fine as well...

The interesting thing is that gay people might be able to become straight the vice verse using psychological techniques if only society was not so judgmental of them.
If a gay person would decide he wanted to try and become straight and use psychological means to achieve this hed be crucified by the gay community I am sure.
The fact this is not acceptable is raising the chances gay people will not achieve success if they desire to try psychological treatment.
I personally don't see anything wrong with this since people do these sorts of things all the time..adjust to society's standards in all aspects of life since being an outsider creates a natural discomfort..Why should sexuality be special in this regard...
I don't see it as a necessarily positive thing but i dont think it should b judged by a different set of standards.

Whether or not physiological 'treatment' is possible is beyond me. I don't actually know if its theoretically possible. It is somewhat an interest area for me so I think i can say that current scientific understanding would suggest not.

I will say with certainty, all attempts to date to reverse sexuality have been pretty physiologically disastrous; severely damaging the individuals.

Completely unrelated anecdote: Before the idea of ethics got in the way of some pretty good study some folks had a good stab at trying to cure sexual deviants. I think this was mostly pedophiles, from memory. What they did was show the subjects material they found erotic while subjecting them to electric shocks. The idea was that they could train them to associate pedophilia with pain, preventing them from thinking about it. It essentially worked. It backfired, however, when they found them sticking their hands in the toaster to get their jollies.

I guess the moral of the story is that sexuality, however misdirected, is a fundamental part of our being.

this is an ongoing issue here as well, and the single best argument i heard for gay marriage is the following (here they can already be partners which is more or less similar to marriage only no adoption, hence adoption is the hot topic):

Do you really think those kids are better off in a social home than with a loving family, be that family straight or gay?

That was the clincher for me, orphanages and social homes are like prisons (here at least).

Heh,in Israel there are no orphanages.
Hardly anyone gives away kids and there are a lot of people looking to adopt...in many cases they are forced to adopt from abroad cause they cant find anyone in Israel..

Which of these is better:
1) Child in state-run foster care, orphanage, or other (unnatural!) arrangement;

2) Child permanently adopted into two-parent home, with two parents who happen to be of the same sex.

Keep in mind that state-run foster care, orphanages, and other methods for dealing with "excess" children are all unnatural abominations against nature. (Along with such evil devices as toasters, microwave ovens, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, and pulleys. Wheels get a pass because dung beetles make wheels of dung and roll them around.) In nature, "excess" children are "sent to a better place" as soon as they become "excess" - whether they are abandoned, thrown away, or eaten depends on the species. This is the natural way of things, and it's a horror that we have abandoned the natural way. The Chinese have it right - toss "excess" children in trash cans.

Obviously you also support cannibalism after sex since that is found in nature. In many species, the female eats the male after sex. This is clearly natural. However, I have a question - is it OK for a female to eat a male without having sex first? How about gay sex cannibalism - can one gay partner eat the other after sex? Does it have to be the 'female' role eating the 'male' role? And what about those pesky lesbians?

If it exists in Nature it can of intercourse still be wrong, eh unnatural within the human species, because the human species say who is nature, and who is not - and who is not gets on the red list. Winning Argument through Superior destructivness!

Fine, explain the convenient position of your prostate then. And the remarkable number of nerve endings in an otherwise unnecessary location.

Convenient position of the prostate is easily explained by simple logic having to do with the fact that your genitals and your anus are quite close together, the good reasons for them being close together is quite obvious. Not much you could do with a dick coming out of your chest or ass, or a vagina on the back of your head.

Regarding nerve endings... Seriously? You're trying to make a real argument out of that? Unnecessary? I for one like knowing whether I shart or fart. I also like knowing when I'm taking a massive dump when it's done. I also like being able to know if I'm pushing too hard or any number of other really really good reasons for having a lot of nerve endings.

Come on dude, I'm not even busting your balls and you come at me with faulty logic.

Can you imagine what would happen if you DIDN'T have those nerve endings? Nothing like sitting in an office chair and shitting on yourself because you had no idea that you had so much buildup. I mean come on, sheesh.

It┬┤s actually what mostly is RealLife fact, after coming out, most Gays and Lesbians move into a sort of Ghettos (Blocks for Bohemians only/Gayted Comunitys) .. it doesen┬┤t get anymore own country.. and were they can┬┤t they marry for disguise or take the walk to the westside..

It is sad, but beside some intys&Artists not many man can overcome that hardwired Reflex.. guess it is that "having a Penis in your Ass" FearImagining that gets that bitereflex.. funny nobody is asking it from them..

I had a Gayguy in my Class.. was a nice fellow, although he mostly hang around with the Girls.. maybe Forb think about that noth everything that triggers fear in your neurons is that bad...

There are animals performing sexual acts on same gender, f.e. dogs. Does this mean dogs are unnatural?
