When a mobile unit is building a mobile unit, the unit under construction sit on the ground. It can still be moved with appropriate script hack however, but then it would be hard to know when the unit is done built and ready to be realeased.

When an immobile factory is moved, the unit in construction follows. But factories can't move by themselves. So you could have a moving unit with a factory attached to it, and that factory would be building a unit, and all three would travel together.

what I want to be able to happen (in the engine) is for "tranports" or some other special type of unit that can build units already loaded into itself and then unload them.

Ah I misinterpreted, subsystem type thign then?Something like homeworld 2 has with a little more control? I think that's a brilliant idea, perhaps having the seperate systems as seperate units and you define what unit is added and to what piece it's attatched too when built, It could be an entire class of unit, I see great potential in it, aside from solving the problem.

It'd also make attack targetting much more effective, eg targettign a untis weapons and engines/drive mechanism then capturing it while it lays helpless, or reclaiming subsystems and building better ones.

You or I should make a new thread on it.

so building a carrier for WD is definitely possible! (build a flat topped carrier ship and then get it to build a construction airfield and a repair airfield on top of it)

and the carrier can move while building!

cool!

Can start bring in the naval units of WD now and have naval/air battles in no land maps!!

hehe, I would make new units to fill the job of aircraft carrier decks, something less visible...like a control tower or something.

I'd love to have a Carrier that can build aircraft and launch aircraft, much like Homeworld.
