I thought that if you simply ran the updater under wine that would do the job?

Has anybody tried one of the AI dll's under wine?

Do you launch Spring using the Kicker (aka Start Menu) icon created by wine or do you start it up from the console?

It's a funny thing cause, in my instalation, if i start using the kicker the program complaints that it didn't found any mod and crashes. But runs ok if launched from the console.

Try http://users.sentvid.org/~tomaz/temp/richupd.exe, which includes richedit 3.0 update (don't know how to install it to wine though).
I guess you can try running that .exe with wine. If i'm not mistaken, wine simulates an win98 instalation and not a winNT and that .exe might just change what's needed.

I guess I can disable some advanced stuff if program detects it is running under wine, but I don't know how to detect that. It says under Wine FAQ not to try to detect that at all :)
Understandable. Can you imagine what MS would give for being able to prevent Linuxers running progs? The less advantages for Linux, the better...
Anyway, although you can't detect Wine, I can, and you can just add that as an option (use richedit 2.0 instead of 3.0)

Nope. It does some sort of an install (very quick), but nothing after that - no change.

If you mean the AIs it gives you a choice of when you run spring.exe, yes, I have. What is of interest to you?

Wine autodetects Win version, or let's you choose. Should I try choosing a specific one?

Console. Love the console... Never tried kicker. I might as well stay it, it would seem.

I was curious what was different in the AI under a linux system, or if any changes indeed existed.
