Spring lobby sucks!!!

The problem:
Tasclient doesnt work, it always shut down during the start...
I tried spring folders from many diffrent spring players, who are are still using the client, but still the same problem!
I use vista x64 servicepack 2 :) i know ... dude :P
but client worked always fine and now since the spring update it failed working!!!
and spring lobby lol this is a good joke <_<
It needs at my comp at least 5 min to start!!!
I press the button start spring lobby 5 min after it starts... :/
My comp doesnt freez or something i can continue working!
Well and when im inside the lobby... after some hours ... I want to mark some friends with colors... well I want to apply... crash it freez and i can nothing do!!!! Same when I dl a map and i want to refresh! Fail!!!!!
I can only say... brain damage this is a bad joke!

Beside the other facts that the lobby looks horrible!
The graphical interface is really confusing...
nothing is there where u expect it...
u see the refresh every 2 secs when the playerlist build up new...
I got since the update no sound ingame and in the lobby!!! --->
I checked every sound setting!!!

PS: I WANT THE OLD LOBBY BACK!!!

indeed :'(
when the springlobby refreshes on my comp it refreshes like 4 time in a row, what ever i doo (type msg, or switching betwen menus) so the whole time i only see how the screen refreshes ^^

btw DOUBLE POST!!! :P

I think part of the problem with SpringLobby is that it's trying to do too much. Every feature of both TASClient and SpringDownloader is getting put into SpringLobby. Are there any attempts to make SpringDownloader cross-platform, so that SpringLobby can stick to doing TASClient's job?

The bugs are nasty, particularly since Springlobby used to be _better_. The slow refresh behavior used to be worse, and the last update took away the sorting-on-multiple-columns feature of the battleroom list.

As for the user-interface, what in particular bugs people about it? I personally don't like the dearth of right-click context commands, and the long-standing bug where it doesn't auto-reload the maps/mods when you try to join a game you don't have the materials for.

The other big fail is the tab-seperation. Having to switch to the "chat" tab when you receive a message on the "multiplayer" panel is terrible. It should be a single unified tabspace, not a two-tier tabspace. Clicking the "Multiplayer" button shouldn't switch to a "multiplayer tabspace, it should just spawn the multiplayer tabs".

Spring downloader can easilly be cross platform, problem is it needs mono installed on linux and i dont think springlobby maintainers would like to distribute such thing.

Actually, i can't even play Spring anymore : I installed the new Spring by the Linux autoinstaller (even for me, installing it by Synaptic is a big no-no), but the lobby always crash after 1-2 minutes.

Maybe the devs can stop to add shinny effects, even if they look well on a job resume, and try to work the lobbies ?

Can't join you on the lobby (too many crashs), then there.

By the ways, the shell said that
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
what(): std::bad_alloc

that's not in the file.

Oh, and that's after a total reinstall (with deleting of /Spring and ./Spring).

In the beginning it was planned as a joke. But when more and more players used it, they were forced to make it functional. Unfortunately they underestimated the amount of work this would be.

Make a ticket with a precise description how to reproduce this. Mention your setup (versions etc.).

I played OTA and now spring. I used several lobby clients. None were 100% similar. But with (almost) all I was able to play OTA/Spring.

Springlobby is (afaik) not a reimplementation of TASClient. Don't expect it to be exactly like TASClient.

Why do you need sound in the lobby? Ringing is so annoying! :-P

TASClient had a separate window. You had to switch every time.
In Springlobby you can drag the whole "multiplayer" panel to the side and have both chat and multiplayer panels visible. Works nice with 16:9 screens. (It just does not remember the setup, so the positions are lost when you restart.)

First good suggestion for Springlobby I read on the forum. The rest were mostly flames...

Looks like this bug.
If you are using 10472 use 10468 as long as there is no new version released.

TO be honest, I'm quite upset with springlobby as well. Having EVERYTHING seperated is not good at all. Tabs = bad.

If I drag the multiplayer section below chat, EVERYTHING multiplayer spawns in that little area, meaning when hosting a game I have to scroll on the bottom portion. That is not good at all.
