Shift Escape does let me out of spring anymore. I end up having to use Task Manager.

Try esc and click on quit?

Or do you use custom uikeys.txt with /unbind all?

Yeah, seems they replaced Shift Esc with Esc then Click.

Which is not far to be a kind of standard gui behaviour (but I admit I tried the shift-esc too one or two times ^^)
