All AI's except RAI0533 disappeared when I updated to 0.79

Post by Nabo0o »

I can't find them in bot menu and RAI0533 will only end the game once it starts anyway... Was the update supposed to do this?

Thanks for your time :|

Edit: Btw I use Ubuntu 8.10, Interpried Ibex, and updated to 0.79 with the synaptics manager.

sounds like you use an old version of springlobby, update it.
if it is not that, come back again please.
it could also be that you do not have any AIs installed for the new spring. as the new spring uses a totally different format for AIs, old ones do not work. RAI 0.533 is old, RAI for current spring should be 0.601.

Well I tried to update the springlobby meta package before but the synaptic program told me it couldn't be done. Finally I tried to update the spring engine which worked.

But the spring engine just got released, how could there already be new AI's released which works with the engine?
Could you please tell me what AI's are the best or most currently updated at the moment?

Thanks

yeah, your springlobby is way too old!

i use ubuntu 8.10 too, and i have springlobby 446
using this repo: http://ppa.launchpad.net/spring/ubuntu

AIs are changed/maintainted during the smae time the engine changes, and AI devs hav eaccess to the work in progress engine (if they want), so AIs can be released together with the engine, at the same time.

Uhm, I'm stupid, how do I use this???
Can't it be updated with the synaptic manager or some other way?

Hmm, I managed to install the latest spring lobbyversion, but only on the premise that I killed the other sping-lobby-spinglobby meta package...

All the new bots are there though, any I can even chose between more than one this time (that makes me very happy ;D ).

Guess that's problem solved!

No, if you look in the screenshot I just right clicked and choose to install the springlobby, but I didn't want to do it earlier because it would remove the spring-lobby-springlobby, which I thought I needed.

I don't really understand what the metapackage is supposed to do, but it seems like I don't need it...
