Working TASClient here

Post by Regret »

Download: tasclient.zip

Extract to your Spring folder.

EDIT: seems it also helps to delete script folder that is located in your lobby folder inside spring folder

Hmm, not doing anything for me. I've tried 0.37, 0.45 and 0.46 now and all are giving me same problem.

It's got something to do with unitsync.dll...

Vista x32. Dunno if it's the same bug. I open TAS Client, the splash screen shows, when it gets to "Initializing unitsync.dll" I get an instant error; "TA Spring Lobby client has stopped working" and then I have no choice but to close it.

I had a major problem when I first tried to use Spring Lobby, it wouldn't accept my unitsync.dll and I had to fiddle with loads of stuff and ended up using a new one I think.

Same thing with the old Mission Editor when it required unitsync.dll, said unitsync.dll was corrupt or something so I couldn't use it.

Dunno why though, all versions of TAS Client worked fine on any engine below 0.79.

Did you copy the contents of the zip into a fresh install of latest spring version?

Yeah, I tried that didn't work. Regardless I got it working now. I switched the unitsync.dll file from the Springlobby folder into the main Spring directory and it worked :S

Tbh, I think shoving all those files straight into the Spring folder is a messy idea. Would be a lot nicer to have all those files packed in a separate folder too so the main Spring folder is clustered up with all sorts of junk.

Edit: Nvm, just got TAS Client working it opened up, then I had to update to the latest engine in order to play which makes me think the old Unitsync.dll file was registered to it's own engine version. Anyways, I have no idea what I'm doing but now TAS Client isn't liking my unitsync.dll now I've updated to 0.79 again.

Guess I'll just get used to Spring Lobby :<

After some more testing, apparently I can only run TAS Client when I am using a unitsync.dll file which is from any version below 0.79. However, if I do this, I can get TAS Client running, but it then tells me I'm running the version of Spring that I pulled the unitsync.dll file from. Therefore, I cannot play on 0.79 with it.

Ctrl + shift + F6 --> Ignore server version incompatibility

Can you try this dll (rename it to unitsync.dll) ?

Just use tasclient you used in previous version.

Shut down springlobby and springdownloader and delete archivecache7.txt in spring folder.

Your unitsync.dll file didn't work, and Licho's suggestion didn't work either. However, using Ctrl+Shift+F6 option did work. I'm now online on 0.79 with TAS Client and can join games, if I experience any problems I'll probably come whining back here, thanks ^_^

Isn't it a feature?

The syntax to add bots was changed, but TASClient not updated.
