if it needs to count the numbers first, maybe count while spring is starting and/or just sitting there?

it must be doing something stupid to take six seconds.

filter by starting with "screen", put them in a list, sort the list, grab the last element, split the number, add one?

i bought 2 drives, they both broke after 2 days.

seems like god just hates me.

---

btw are there programs which can copy my whole drive without cloning it ? (i suppose the drive cloning means it copies it like it was CD image... bit by bit in the same order)

Would be cool to copy the drive to another drive, and defragmenting it at same time

put both drives in and start a separate operating system (like from a live cd) able to read/write the filesystem... copy the contents of one drive to the other.

Get a flash drive... best investment u can get. Much better than upgrading CPU or memory.

I have three of these and they pwn.

When u run windows update it installs one update per second. If u run out of RAM and the hard drive begins swapping stuff u don't notice right away because the drive is so damn fast...

Same speed... ORLY? Did you try to create 1000000 small files on the drive and measure the time it takes?

nah i just opened some big BMP file (150megs), it was about the same speed in opening that file... now i tried it again, hmm... the speed really changes, sometimes HDD is fucking fast, and sometimes as fast as SSD, and sometimes a bit slower than SSD :/

small files creation speed is worthless really, thats not how i use my HDD anyways.

(proper) SSDs are much superior at random access, you'll have a much snappier system. Sequential access is slower than HDDs except when you pay extreme premium for top-level intel drives, that's why your 150MB bmp test works in favor of HDD.
