Hello all. Gentoo ~amd64, emerged Spring 0.78.2.1 via overlay. CA version is 3330-stable.
I'm trying to get some single player games going to learn the ropes, but the only AI that seems to work are the Chickens. I found a RAI that let the game start (usually the game crashes after loading and counting down), but their commander just sat there and did nothing. Still not a winner.
I'm wondering if there's a seperate bot pack that I need to emerge, or if there's only the sources that aren't in the overlay, or basically where to go next. I'm feeling a little out of options. Any help or pointers are appreciated. Thanks.
Chicken AIs work, but that's it?

it looks like most bots crash on 64bit. that was reported by other users already. all/most of these issues should be fixed in the development master, and therefore they should work in hte next release.
if you want to make sure they work for you in the next release, you could get spring sources from git, compile it yourself and test the AIs.
if one of them does still not work, you can post your infolog.txt here, or file a bug report on mantis.

Kernel Panic also use a Lua AI, so will also work where .so AI fail.

I'm in the same boat - I'm slowly replacing my Windows XP Pro machines with Ubuntu 8.10 x64, and wanted to play a game; after some searching, I installed Spring and Complete Annihilation stable build of 78.2.
As I've never played TA, much less variants of it, I also want to fight AI's in single player mode (or, better, spectate once first), and encountered the game window ending and putting me back in the spring lobby as soon as the "Starting in" counted down to 0.
Can someone link to instructions on downloading and compiling the source code for the new AI's, and whether or not I need to be on the test build instead of the stable build?
