I'll be where the action is. If Spring44 and P.U.R.E discussions stay at spring.clan-sy.com, I'll stay here as well. If discussions for those two mods become active on their respective forum on springinfo, I'll create an account there (but not until that point, I have enough forums where I have accounts created spread over internet).

So keep those springinfo forums around and see what happens.

I won't, however, actively try to move away any P.U.R.E or Spring44 discussions from here to springinfo, especially not given that Swiftspear now offers creating subforums and Nemo has expressed interest in at least Spring44 getting a such a subforum. And, as said before, I don't have a problem keeping mod discussions at spring.clan-sy.com in the first place as I'm already here, and the discussions are already here.

(And for those who wonder, Spring44 and P.U.R.E are currently the two mods I'm interested in. Ok, Operation Polaris as well, but currently that particular mod is not actively discussed here at spring.clan-sy.com)

I fully support subforums for 3-5 most popular MODS. To my mind comes: CA BA XTA NOTA . Main mod forum would still be for all other mods.

Forboding Angel, can you set up something with Smoth so that anything posted there also ends up there and vice-versa? Because having an already super-small community split in 3 would be madness.

Wow! Cool, how does it work? Do I just have to say "Hai, maek me KP subforum?" (althought I'm not exactly the creator of it...)

Ok, If you're a valid representative of a mod or game, quant, zwzsg, I consider you guys valid. PM me with a request to open up a mod forum for you. I need the name of the mod or game, and I need to know if you want the forum private or public (You will have control over who is added as moderator over your forum, but you won't be able to do things like ban a user from posting in the forum or something if it's public, you have the option of only allowing users you've whitelisted to post, or you have the option of not allowing non whitelisted users to read posts as well)

The representative that PMs me will be given leadership of the mod/game forum's moderator group, as well as leadership of the forum's alumni group (members) in the case of a private forum. A group leader has the ability to appoint new members, so don't ask me to add people to your various groups for you, if you need new leaders of the groups, I can do that, but try to be as self sustaining as possible. Please try to get the list of all the leaders you want in the first forum PM, it's much faster to add 5 members in one go than it is to do them one after another. Format your list of desired leaders as follows and use exact forum names.

name1
name2
name3
name4

Copy paste makes me happy, making unnecessary work makes me indignant, and greatly decreases your chances of getting your way.

You only get 1 forum here, so make sure you request it be set up the way you want it. Your moderator group will have the ability to delete and edit user posts and stuff, but like I say, I can't set up forum specific banning for public forums (just remove a users name from the whitelist if your forum is private), if a user needs to be banned they have to be banned from the full forum, so if you set up stupid rules that are contradictory to our existing forum rules and create drama in your forum I may have to delete it, as in the end of the day I'm not going to clean up your messes. Of course moderation is willing to enforce our Spring forum rules in your forum, we'll be doing that anyways as much as possible.

Summary: If you want a forum I need a PM with the name of your mod or game, the status of your forum (public, private, hidden), and the list of leaders (people who can add new members to moderator and membership groups) formatted the way I outlined earlier in the thread.

I won't be creating forums for people who do not represent a valid mod or game project. In order to be a valid representative you must either be identifiably the public relations specialist of the project, or considered a lead developer. In order for your project to be valid it must have a working build (if it's a private build then I may request to see videos, the amount of content that must be shown will depend on the nature of the project, I will accept alpha and beta projects that are in earlier development, but I won't accept stuff that doesn't appear to be anything more than hype) and evidence of valid interest (a 5+ page forum thread works fine, but so would a lobby channel with 20 idlers or an existing project website with a good few hundred hits)

well if you are going to do it. I really wouldn't move my development discussion to here so it is rather bothersome and I am not sure that you can make a subforum link back to my real forum can you?

Make an additional forum for all mods, that you can make tagged threads in.

Then, if you don't your own forum here but your mod is large enough to qualify for one, you get a sticky thread linking to your own forum in the subforum here mentioned above.

I don't know how to make the forum path just hyperlink unfortunately. I'm sure it's possible, but it's not a feature in the phpbb admin panel. Lurker should have the access he needs to do it if we can figure out a method. I won't have time to look into serious modifications of the forums in the next few days though, I'll be lucky to find the time to do stuff I already know how to do.

Would it be unnecessary forum bloat to have a forum for IW that pretty much just links to our forum, but has the art thread there too?

I've slotted the project subforums away enough that I'm not going to be too worried about having any less than 20 mods. 20 plus and I may have to rethink things, but for now it would work. I'm guessing if you just want 1 active thread there, you're hoping for a forum with reply access but not new posting access? Anyways, if you want it set up, PM me the request for the way you want it, I want documentation of the requests 8)

[edit] BTW, the forums have been up for a while now... I think someone asked me to move a list of threads over to their forum, but I can't remember who it was and I'm having trouble finding that request... If it's you, just give me a heads up, I'll get around to it.

http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=41

[edit2] It occurred to me that moderators of these groups might want the forum somehow indicating to their users that they actually have some sway in the afformentioned groups. I don't want to do a custom color thing, as I've used too many of those already, and they're really not very communicative as to what the heck they mean, but if you want a custom icon for your group members feel free to get one to me.

80 pixles wide, no taller than 35 pixles, gif's for transparency, or jpg for full color flags. I'm not going to be making custom ones for people who don't want them or are too lazy, but if you do want a group flag than I'll implement it for you if you get it too me.

Swift, thanks for your help! I have now issued a "grand opening" for the Spring44 subforum by creating a thread on how to encourage players to ensure that airplanes that are called into combat also survives the mission so they can return home.
