Keyboard input stops working about 5 minutes into the game

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10(x64), Gnome, with a 512MB NVidia 8500GT. Have a Mac keyboard if that makes a difference.

Everything works fine for about 5 minutes, and at some point(I can't tell whats causing it) that game kind of freezes for a second, the mouse pointer jumps back to the middle and the screen, and the game resumes, without the keyboard working at all(can't shift+click to add to a queue, and ctrl+click to select multiple units, etc...)

The only way to exit the game is Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to restart Gnome.

Any ideas?

I quit the game right when the keyboard stopped working - doesn't look like anything useful in there, but thought I would post it anyway.

Sounds like another application is stealing focus, I'd suggest running the game windowed instead of fullscreen to see what it is.

The keyboard seems to keep working if I am not in fullscreen mode, its a lot more playable, but the scrolling around is kind of weird.

also, check out smoothscroll widget (use middle mouse to activate.)

system->preferences->keyboard shortcuts->window management

put the "toggle full screen" on alt+f11 (this is the shortcut other wm's use)

What is the best way to teach myself to play keyboard? I played all woodwind instruments for a while now (8 years) and now I want to teach myself to play keyboard. Any suggestions? I used to play a little when I was in middle school. And I purchased a new keyboard about 2 years ago but stop playing it when I graduated from high school.
