all my maps have dissappeared
something really weird happened. Most of my maps have disappeared. i tried clicking reload maps/mods, but nothing happened. i have even tried to go into the maps directory and they are gone there too. what happened?
i am running ubuntu linux 8.10 w/ springlobby
edit: just in case all my mods and replays are still there, and some maps that i had downloaded didn't disappear.

Neither spring nor springlobby will delete any of your maps.
So either
So either
- they have never been there
- you moved/deleted them

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
did spring install into a new/different directory and can not find the older map directory? also id scan for viruses and not let younger siblings/ offspring use your account
Re: all my maps have dissappeared
well i have not reinstalled it, i have no siblings or offspring, and my parents never use my computer.
one weird thing that has happened is that i have recently downloaded an iso for 64-bit ubuntu using transmission. i have a 1mbps connection and it was downloading at 100kbps about. it should've taken 2 hours, but it took ALL DAY! it ALWAYS downloaded at 100kbps! and when i checked the total downloaded, it said 3.3 GB!!! the file was 700 Mb and it was the only internet-related application that was running! wtf? my ubuntu partition is almost full, about 5GB remaining. is it possible it deleted some files?
oh and btw on my laptop which i installed 64-bit AMD ubuntu 8.10, spring does not work in full-screen. it's just a bunch of vertical lines. the commands respond, however, and it works fine windowed. does anyone know what happened and/or how to fix it?

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
sounds like a nice download manager you used there.. deleting random files if it needs more disc space for the download :D
no really... if they are nto deleted, they may be somewhere still, try to search for them, eg:
or "*.sdz"
the fullscreen problem seems like a graphical one, therefore please give info about your graphic card and the used driver

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
well i guess i can live with the maps disappearing (i'll try searching later). The laptop is a HP 6735s w/ AMD turion X2 2.0 Ghz, 2GB of RAM, and an ATI Radeon 3200 w/ about 256Mb of shared RAM (i think) with the proprietary fglrx driver installed
Re: all my maps have dissappeared
well, i went to ati.amd.com and i got the latest catalyst drivers (9.3), and now the vertical lines are gone when it loads, and everything appears to be normal, but it hangs at finalizing -.-. if i press ctrl+alt+backspace, the screen gets screwed up and i have to turn it off manually... somebody help!!!
btw in the catalyst control center it says my OpenGL version is 2.1.8543, but i've seen there's a 3.0. can i upgrade it somehow? maybe that would fix it.

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
you mean, when you exit spring, your system freezes?
i am no expert for the OpenGL thing, i am prety sure your card does not support 3.0, possibly not the driver and spring does not need/use 3.0. a newr opengl version is not more stable but comes with more features, as i understand it. and even if that all would be wrong, you can not install/use a newer opengl version kind of independantly of your graphics driver.
maybe give more info about what goes wrong now, and possibly someone can help.

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
well no ctrl+alt+backspace in Linux restarts X, but in a way it does freeze my system. I have tried downgrading the driver to catalyst 9.2 but to no avail. I have asked if it possible to install an nvidia dedicated graphics card on my laptop. this would pretty much sovle all my problems, as i would want a more powerful card anyway.
but if you know how to fix it now then please help.

Re: all my maps have dissappeared
i'll check the infolog.txt as soon as i use my laptop again, btw where is it exactly? so that myabe i don't have to search...
Re: all my maps have dissappeared
her's my infolog.txt
something weird i noticed was that it said that the video was 32-bit. this probably is nothing but is that strange considering my system is 64-bit?
i know it's probably just the color depth but whatever
