New lobby server

The lobby master server has been replaced by a new one.

It has been decided to do this because the old server software (TASServer) has a variety of problems. The two most important ones are that it stores account data in a flat file database (instead of a SQL) and the fact that for a long time no one had any interest in maintaining it.

This is the first time in many years that an entirely new lobby server has been deployed. As such we're having some startup problems with the new server (uberserver), varying from improperly closed sockets to memory leaks. Aegis, the main developer of this server, is working hard to resolve these issues and get you on back online as soon as possible.

If you notice any other issues in the lobby which you think may be related to this switch of lobby server software, please report them.

Will gametime / ranks from TASServer come back on the primary at some point?

all of the current problems you see are tasserver in lan mode. yes, uberserver with accounts/ranks/etc will come back asap.

Restored old server in original configuration with accounts from before the failed switch to uberserver (5th of March).

Hopefully better luck next time, after the bugs are fixed.

That server is down now too. Check: http://www.springinfo.info/ to see which servers are up.

well, it's kind of hard to do so when you only get 30 mins to look at it before it goes back into aegis's bug extermination lab :P

Cool, I know some Python... Just started, but I know PHP and Java so I only have to learn the parts that differ... Kind of... Can I be of any help?

I can't find the download link anyway... tried several forum searches, 'uberserver', 'uberserver download', tried again with user toby or aegis, tried searching jobjol and darkstars... really can't find it!
