Yeah what manored said, on a high res game, both sides have high res so it's still got the same counters...
Re: Complete Annihilation News
The Zenith/Laser are just ways to end the game in style.
They are not very viable. They are there to be awesome.
Nevertheless, shields probably should block meteors if they block lazers.
There is heaps of busywork to do, cleaning stuff up, admin stuff, scripting, tweaks, visual stuff, etc. If you start there and do good work you'll get a vote in no time.
The other way is to play. A lot. And get very good at the game. We value the oppinions of good players who understand the game intimately. In fact, this always helps.

CA is a meritocracy. You get a say by contributing work that the other developers approve of. If you want to script, texture, model, etc, and contribute to the development of the mod in a positive way and share design goals with the dev team, thats how you get power in the descision making process.InTheMicrowave wrote:Hello!
I have found myself with a bunch of free time, and I'd like to join the dev team for Complete Annihilation. I would prefer to be in the design/balance area if possible, since that is what I think about obsessively. I'm not much for programming, but I know some Python and I could become familiar with Lua if that is needed.
What can I do to help?

What the hell is the new auto repair thing? My conbots/commander will actually stop what they are doing to repair nearby units, how do I turn this off? And why don't they only repair when they are idle?

Thats Auto Repairer, an annoying widget car added and enabled by default for some reason. Turn it off in the widget menu.

It's disabled by default now. Not a priority.
And now for something completely different...
CA is going multilingual:

No problem, you're doing a good job. Want to help me translate Nubtron too?
By the way, always be sure to compare to the current English Unit Guide. Even the stuff you already translated.

Seriously, ego much?! Everyone knows I am the greatest Logos commander that ever lived, owing to the amazing fried egg sandwiches I feed to my AKs.Forged from the very essence of the greatest Logos commander who ever lived, the Saktoth is the single largest strider to walk the earth.
Re: Complete Annihilation News
incorrect.
as my MidShield protects me from all sorts of attacks, I am the best CA player to walk the Earth.
However, I am a porc

mine's better
Also, for the record: neither the Krogoth rename nor its current helptext were ever Saktoth's ideas or implementation at any point. >_>
And a couple of old ones that got removed:The undisputed master of the air, KingRaptor the Valiant slays evil aircraft with his burning lasers of justice to ensure a safe sky for all to admire, travel, and have sex in.
The Basilisk climbs walls like a spider to give the enemy 'surprise buttsecks' with its highly acidic spit.
The Roach is a bad sport. At the first sign of peril, it will rage-quit the game and self-d. Unfortunately, that is such a lame act that it usually sparks a mass rage-quit among nearby units.

Re: Complete Annihilation News
i think naming units after the developers is the shittest thing that ever happened to ca
Re: Complete Annihilation News
How do core t1 bots counter mass rockos on a flat map (in this case titan duel)
I dont think using clogger to box them and storms to kill em is fair (complex micro of 2 units vs line move skirmish).
Rockos seemed to miss a lot less than storms in a straight line skirmish.

What about nukes? :)MidKnight wrote:incorrect.

I think an agressive adjective/noun would do best as the name of the baddest unit from core. "Armaggedon" sounds like a good, if uncreative :)

I still can't believe you put that in thereKingRaptor wrote:The Basilisk climbs walls like a spider to give the enemy 'surprise buttsecks' with its highly acidic spit.

Also I should add this description to the unit in the concept fac: Repairer - Wide Area Nanoturret. This unit lives up to its glorious namesake by being friendly and helpful to all builders who need assistance. 4x cost of standard nanos with slight increase in buildpower and range.
No it's not. It's awesome! :D1v0ry_k1ng wrote:i think naming units after the developers is the shittest thing that ever happened to ca
Seriously though, If a name is good, what difference does it make if it also happens to be someone's nickname or not?
What about the reverse, people naming themselves after units. That doesn't mean the unit then needs renaming.
The answer is don't play against det.pintle wrote:How do core t1 bots counter mass rockos on a flat map (in this case titan duel)

Re: Complete Annihilation News
I was playing against SteveZissou, the game was pretty even up until the point where he rolled up with ~15 rockos, and I could do nothing (as far as I could see at least) but retreat and relinquish the centre of the map, ergo a substantial portion of the mex spots.CarRepairer wrote:The answer is don't play against det.
I suppose dancing roaches in at them would be semi viable, assuming they are unsupported, but it did seem that the rocko has a substantial advantage in open field combat over the storm.
I have absolutely not tested this thoroughly, and it could simply be that I am perceiving something which is not there

Re: Complete Annihilation News
how about thuds mixed in with riot bots? rockos would have to skirmish back a looong way to stop that lot
Re: Complete Annihilation News
If thuds were not assault bots, with (relatively) short range, low speed, and good hp, then yes1v0ry_k1ng wrote:how about thuds mixed in with riot bots? rockos would have to skirmish back a looong way to stop that lot

Re: Complete Annihilation News
Dancing roaches would definitely be the best counter. If the Rockos are packed tightly together a roach could intsa-kill as many as ten of them. Its still a bit micro intensive but probably much less so then what you were trying to do.pintle wrote:How do core t1 bots counter mass rockos on a flat map (in this case titan duel)

Rockos have the advantage over storms when their line of fire is clear. Storms have the advantage that they can fire over friendly units or wrecks, so mixing cloggers and storms together was a good strategy in your case.pintle wrote:Rockos seemed to miss a lot less than storms in a straight line skirmish
What is really imbalanced is no auto-jitter widget for roaches to counter that auto-skirm widget

Re: Complete Annihilation News
rockos have 2x the fire rate of storms, making their missles more likely to hit/harder to dodge.
storms are only really good for a move in, fire salvo, move out kinda thing, not facing off rocko lines.
do better just to focus on ak raiding and thud/riot grind
