International Games

Post by Paladin_za »

Hi Guys

I've recently started playing spring online and I must say, it rocks. Last night there was about 65 players online, which was quite cool.

I was thinking of maybe organising some country vs country games. Just for fun of course. For example US vs SWE etc. Could be quite interresting.

What do you guys think?

There is already a tournament being organised in another thread. Tis a good idea, just mabey not while another tournament is about to start. Mabey that could be the theme for the next tourney?

In the future wars will be fought in computers and there will be no casulties... unfortunately this will be enforced by a suppercomputer with an endless supply of adroid death squads located on the moon...

I think they were going to use the host-name/country name... but I always wanted to do a risk style tournament (long term idea here), basically a game of risk where you have 3 teams (need 3 players minimum to a team)... and you basically take turns declaring an attack between countries and then playing games for that country (the "dice" you use would be the number of players used in game... so most games would be 3 against 2, the "defenders advantage" would be a 20% hadicap... lose as many armies as players who are defeated in game)... it would take FOREVER to acctually play a game (even longer then a good game of diplomacy) and would probably make a better lan-event then something to do online... but it would be really cool in the end, maybe you could use the diplomacy style game where you all decide which countries to attack secretly before-hand, and then if you happened to have a situation where 2 attackers are trying to take over one country you have a 3 on 3 on 2 battle instead... it might also make things go faster and be less boreing for those involed... might even make it possible to realistically have more then 3 "teams"... also haveing teams have 10 players or more you could have concurrent battles at different fronts... basically assign your better 3 players to the more important fronts... I can work all the rules out if you want... I'm really good at making up rules...

My Ai is good for building bases that expand at an immense rate, then randomly crashing due to an unseen bug that I've been hunting. I'm sure I'll find it sooner or later though, and an NTAI+human combo would be far mor pwoerful than just NTAI or a human by themselves.

Of course a dutch JCAI entry would be a problem there.

What do you guys think?
I think it could quickly degenerate into flamewar and name calling and would brew hatred and nationalism and all that kind of nasty stuff. I mean, someone for one country will throw some insulting clich├â┬® at someone from another country, just for fun, as a taunt before the game, and then the other would retaliate in an even less friendly way, and it'll escalate, and etc...
