What are you modelling in? And what's with the strange render?

I think it looks ok, but that it's too blocky, make more

I don't mean to be a drag but of all unit remakes it attracts humonguous amounts of criticism, yet people continue to remake it.

Since this is for CA since its a saktoth concept, calling it an AK may not be the best idea.

I would also have suggested following the concept in the bottom left, its simpler and less generic and more interesting.

For modeling and uv unwrapping i use Blender. Image is screenshot of blender window (cropped a little).
Called it ak, since on the sketch it's named ak. Later i am going to model all concepts from this drawing.
And yep, i hope that with textures it won't look so blocky anymore.

Change the title of the Random WIP thread to just "WIPs", perhaps people are mislead into creating their own threads if their wip isnt random

design critsm:
try to think yu go in a real mech shop :
did yu ll choose yur model or the original a.k ?

for me yur thud skeetch model look 100* better ,
and yu slim yur a.k more than on skeetck design(especially foots!)

An up-to-date page of the CA concepts (made by my brother, Shraka) can be found here.

The latest AK concept looks like this:

Stylistically, we should follow mr.d's models for core/logos. Rather than heads with knight-style black slits, they should have horizontal recesses with red, horizontal eyes. Take a look at his models.

However, we can still use the model you've made, especially if you're going to be texturing it (which is our major bottleneck).

It needs more detail. Dont think 1997 polygon budget, Spherebot uses 1100 polygons and is one of the most spammed units in the game.

Someone is also already doing an AK model, maackey i believe. If you want to cotinue with this model (or follow the newer design), maackeys AK is possibly more suited to the Thud anyway so that shouldnt be a problem, we have plenty of units that need doing.

No, I don't like how the arms are handled. and for the second time battle tech draws it's roots from anime other than gundam.

This time i want to try create a high poly version, then bake textures and normals to low poly. Hope it will work as i expect it.
