Can GroundDecals cause issues?

I once heard GroundDecals can cause crashes for some people. Was it true? Is it still true in Spring 0.78.2.1 ?

It was a major crash bug that got fixed in svn but wasn't available for a longtime due to the impending new release that took 7 or so months to finally arrive. Lurker as usual banded around a patched version but most people suffered from it.

Ive been using grounddecals 1 for quite some time now, since the latest release, and havent had spring crash in around 100 hours of gaming.

Dunno if this this still the case with groundscaralphafade.

I think I crashed once and it was grounddecal related, and iirc that bug wasn't fixed... grounddecals very, very rarely crash but I still try to remember to disable them if I host.
