Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
Not having a Spring website of my own HINT HINT, i thought i would start a service. Here is an outline of what will happen:
1. You make a mod.
2. I see people playing it.
3. I play it.
4. I become interested.
5. I play it alot.
6. I explain to the community why they should and should not play it, as well as give a description of the mod.
This resource will provide new players with the information they constantly beg me for in Tasclient. I am not sure why people think i am an expert, or how people can recognize my ever-changing smurfs, but as i have risen to this status by popular support, I wish to publicize my expertise.
When I have time, I will begin to make reviews. They will be in this post, in the following format:
Mod: Mod name
Description: Blah blah blah.
Why you should play: Because its awesome etc.
Why you should not play: Because it sucks etc.
I know many of you have been looking forward to this, and many of you now dread this since I have posted. Feel free to say anything, like review requests and criticisms of my work or just general praise and lulz in my name. In a few days, Ill start with what I like to consider the "big three or four (maybe seven?)" of alphabet soup. These "big three or four (maybe seven?)" include BA, CA, XTA, NOTA, and all the others that people would whine about if i did not mention. Hopefully, after finishing these "big three or four (maybe seven?)", I will start on original content mods. Have a nice weekend. Mine will be quite busy and fruitful.

Re: Mod Review Project
I used to write reviews for console games way back and I know that once you get into writing them, it gets pretty fun believe it or not. You should get somebody to get you some hosting space for a review section somewhere where we can achieve them all and so you can easily add images and other elements.

Re: Mod Review Project
Okay, i would love webhosting. That would be just fabulous.
Bias? Im not biased at all. I am a perfectly open minded person, i just happen to know that XTA is the best mod of all.
No, but really, I plan to be honest and fair. I just cannot suppress my lulziousness.
Questions:
Who wants to give me webhosting?
Who wants to fill said webhosting with beautiful javascripts/flash/bloated awesomness?
Actually a blog format would be best. That way I could post a review, and then YOU could post your praise of my review.

Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
You have to really actually play the games to review them fairly. Seriously i don't want you touching gundam. I don't think you will give it a fair shot.
Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
Why not get a range of people to give reviews on their favourite Mod. We don't want really negative reviews as that's just destroying peoples work effort.
For example get BA players who play it all the time to give their review on BA, and Smoth for Gundam, Forb for PURE or w/e. Just no negative biased reviews.

erm, arent we all jumping the gun and taking this uber seriously? These reviews arent going to be laid down as gospel and force fed to primary school children for the next 50 years as fact... right?
Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
I don't give two poops, I don't want tribu posting some lame half assed review of gundam.

Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
well, if it makes you feel better gundam is my fav original content mod. No one ever plays it
.

Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
Tribu, I appreciate the sentiment but I still would rather avoid a review of the project. It is bad to go and review a project when it is in a development stage like gundam is. If you reviewed it right now I suspect it would be compared highly to TA and unfortunately that would be a bad review. The initial post in this thread describes a process where by you would be laying down the law as it were on what people should play.
Any and all reviews of gundam's current game play would only be useful in getting feedback on whether or not the things I tried in the current iteration succeeded or not. Even so, if you reviewed the current way out of date version you would find all too quick that it will be out dated. Given your best attempts you would see the review quickly outdated and probably will have wasted your time.

Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
Hmm, I partially agree with Smoth. What you could do is write some positive reviews of Spring advertising all its features and then spam it all over games forums, chat rooms and porn sites.

Re: Mod Review Project (Hosting Required)
I am very interested in the way my intents are interpreted by the community. I seems as if my aims are not understood.
"BAD REVIEW"
No mod will receive a bad review, as the aim is to encourage interest, expansion of playing horizons, involvement of the community across projects, and the incorporation of more players into the community, not to mention hilarity and lulz. Whats funny about a mod that completely sucks? NOTHING.
". In fact, it would not only look as such, but be such. A third party writes a review. If I was going to buy a computer, I would want to see a third party review of it, not what the manufacturer had to say about it. I want to know the facts, not the intent. Thus, I hope to supply the facts, IN ADDITION to the intent.
Lol, I had no idea that my power was so absolute. I wonder if there are ways of making money in such a powerful position. Also, if I dont review a project in "development stage", then I have no projects to review. Would the community prefer I dig up old outdated mods that are no longer in development and review those? While the effect would be equally comical, it would not be particularly useful. Additionally, my incredibly amazing reviews would encourage participation/nagging in development projects, in order for an even more amazing and better version to be released.smoth wrote:Tribu, I appreciate the sentiment but I still would rather avoid a review of the project. Half-assed? Lame? I intend to do quite the opposite.smoth wrote:I don't give two poops, I don't want tribu posting some lame half assed review of gundam.
Thats an interesting idea, but no you are correct.AF wrote:erm, arent we all jumping the gun and taking this uber seriously? These reviews arent going to be laid down as gospel and force fed to primary school children for the next 50 years as fact... right?
This makes no sense. Firstly, this is a project where I write the reviews, and YOU read them. Secondly, I want to make players interested in new mods. Do you really think that having a modder make a review of his own mod would be profitable to the community? It would look like a whiny noob trying to get people to "pleh mai modJAZCASH wrote:Why not get a range of people to give reviews on their favourite Mod. How in the world could I write a review of a game without playing it? I will give all mods a fair shot, since that is the point of reviewing. I will not say one mod is better than another, since it is already QUITE OBVIOUS that XTA is the best OTA content mod, and GUNDAM is the best original content mod.smoth wrote:You have to really actually play the games to review them fairly.
