Post by Gota »

Does it work fully for all of you?

If it does not work on your system and you know why please tell.

Don't know if I've got everything installed properly but it's there in my Widget list and when I turn it on my current GUI disappears and is replaced with nothing.

i like it, but it has some bugs, e.g.:

-when u select a unit, while u r spec and the mouse coursor is over that unit, the tooltip shows the correct team color, when the mouse cursor isnt over the unit, it shows the team color of the specced (select with adv. player list) player

-when i have select tooltip+sound-slider, the background color of some iceui-related luas vanishs (sended u an video meltrax ;) )

Bug reports are fine, but your vote should be if it actually runs without being corrupted. That's what basic is here about.

Works perfectly here. Why are you asking?

By the way.
Please explain why it doesn't work if it doesn't.

Works perfectly for me except:

1) Playerlist window never stayed in the same spot, often disappears from the screen. Since Advanced Playerlist was really enhanced I switched to that so no biggie.

2) Unit collections window (which is cool but when I tried it I never paid attention to it) turns itself on at the start of each game. A very minor inconvenience.

You can just delete the file if you want that disabled. Player information widget works here, but is mostly useless as it doesn't remember what tabs it's set to and doesn't adjust well to larger resolutions.

Satirik made a better version but iirc it had some annoying bugs.

I just want to determine if IceUI,ATM,is fit to be the default UI widget..seems it isn't.

I think people with problems running it are people who haven't installed it and updated it properly... If it was included in the Spring release that wouldn't be a problem.

I don't think it should be included in Spring releases or even mod releases though.

Everyone who has trouble getting IceUI to work, please delete Widgets/gui_IceUI.lua and Widgets/IceUI/ and use the widget module of SpringDownloader to get the latest version. There is also an option to auto-update all the widgets you have which is pretty cool.

And I will try to fix all those little bugs/annoyances when I have time to work on it again.

Oh, and I know that some of you think it should be included with Spring or some mods. Quantum did include it in CA a few weeks ago and Spring froze for some people on load. So I don't think it would be a good idea anyway. And even if it loads, on some PCs it's pretty slow atm.

I didn't forget it ;).. As I said in my answer, it would help if I had your Widgets/IceUI/Profiles/current.lua so I can reproduce it. But I don't have time atm to work on IceUI.

I think that was just an interaction bug with raw iceui, it can be patched easily to stay inside the CA archive.

Dunno what you mean with "raw iceui". It wasn't a plain r81. It had the changes you found to make it work inside a mod. It worked for most people but froze for some.

Yep, in the mod's gui_iceui.lua just add this line near the top:

Code: Select all

if (VFS.LoadFile('LuaUI/Widgets/gui_IceUI.lua', VFS.RAW_ONLY) ~= nil) then widgetHandler:RemoveWidget() end
In case it's not obvious to everyone, this tells the mod's iceui to go cut itself and bleed out all over the bathroom floor if a "raw" iceui is detected in the users local widgets folder.

Hmm.. Doesn't the widget handler work like that anyway? If it finds the widget in the raw dir, it ignores the one in the mod?

Theoretically yes (other way around though, mod takes precedence), but in my experience it still causes a hang
