Scriptor not working.
I've downloaded Scriptor from Spring files, unzipped to my desktop, but when I try to run it, it gives the error message:
The ordinal 6625 could not be located in the dynamic link library MFC4.DLL.
Could anyone help me with this? It looks like a system file, and I'm adverse to messing around in the Windows folder (although if it has to be done...).

Re: Scriptor not working.
Try this version, see if that helps.
Also, I've just checked, and you're looking for Windows 95 /98-era MFC40.DLL, I think. But Windows should already have that installed. If not, you'll need to get it and install it.

Re: Scriptor not working.
Tried it, didn't work. Also, it's MFC42.DLL - damn my rushed typing. Any other suggestions?
Re: Scriptor not working.
Get MFC42.DLL from one of the DLL 'sites, install it in the proper place, and reboot. In theory.
However... I just did a quick read about it, and it may or may not be that simple, depends on Registry stuff being correct, apparently there's a path involved.
Any administrators want to explain a dummy-proof method for moving that file into XP and Vista, or verifying the Registry entry for this DLL? I assumed that it was just a drag-and-drop, but it appears there are multiple versions of MFC42.DLL, etc., so it may or may not be quite that easy for this guy, and he's afraid of messing with his OS...

Re: Scriptor not working.
Well then try to get the 3dobuilder installer from this topic:
http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtop ... 10&t=17710
It gave me some files I didn't get with the Visual Basic Runtime - maybe it has what you are missing for Scriptor too although I never had issues when unzipping and using Scriptor...

Re: Scriptor not working.
Errrrm... thanks?

Edit: Your version of Scriptor doesn't work either. Better luck next time.

Re: Scriptor not working.
That would indicate a problem on your end.

Re: Scriptor not working.
Yeah, it's to do with a DLL, obviously. I've tried downloading from other sites, but the same problem happens no matter what. Will my dreams of mod making never come true?

Re: Scriptor not working.
Make a mod without cobs, maybe an fps.
Re: Scriptor not working.
Needs empty cobs or crashes.
Re: Scriptor not working.
Meh, have you tried running in Compatibility Mode, etc., yet?

Re: Scriptor not working.
if it suddenly stopped working, try
uninstall and reinstall
or go into regedit and clear everything for scriptor

A little bird told me that one day cob will be replaced with lua (interpreted code) so you won't need to compile a thing and you'll just need a text editor. This may or may not occur within the next 1-12 yearsClockworkIndustries wrote:Yeah, it's to do with a DLL, obviously. Re: Scriptor not working.
This is exactly what I'm talking about
Thanks for demonstrating my point.
BTW. To solve your actual problem I would try installing an older version of the MFC libraries, maybe Visual Basic 5 or whatever was current in the era this utility was written.
