I had this same problem with the SVN builds that I downloaded, and now I have it with the final release of .77b2. I am on Windows XP SP3 (32-bit.)
"Download Content" has a target of:
"C:\Program Files\Spring\$INSTDIR\unknown-files.url"
I believe that should be
"C:\Program Files\Spring\unknown-files.url"
Or perhaps it should point to SpringDownloader.
"Settings" and "Update CA" it won't even let me right-click.
This doesn't affect me too much as I know how to browse Program Files, but I'm sure it would be trouble for people inexperienced.
BTW: Awesome job with this release.
Start Menu Shortcuts not all working in .77b2

Re: Start Menu Shortcuts not all working in .77b2
FYI this still happens in 0.78.2.1, except that it now links to "C:\Program Files\Spring\$INSTDIR\jobjol.url" (instead of "C:\Program Files\Spring\jobjol.url").
Re: Start Menu Shortcuts not all working in .77b2
More specifically this happens on Vista 32 with UAC enabled, if you install into the default directory of "C:\Program Files\". If you install into a different directory which isn't write-protected by UAC, such as "C:\Spring\", then it installs the shortcut properly.Jomel wrote:FYI this still happens in 0.78.2.1, except that it now links to "C:\Program Files\Spring\$INSTDIR\jobjol.url" (instead of "C:\Program Files\Spring\jobjol.url").
This seems to be a symptom of a wider range of troubles with 0.78.2.1 on Vista. The installer doesn't install any mods or maps (I believe it's supposed to offer you a choice of downloads during the installation). The uninstaller claims to be successful but leaves bits behind everywhere (files in the Spring install directory, multiple registry keys, the start menu program group, and various bits under the user's application data folder). And even after spending almost a day downloading mods and maps, reinstalling multiple times, and trying both lobby clients and spring.exe itself I've been unable to play a simple single-player game against an AI. SpringLobby eventually managed to load my mods and maps, but persistently refused to detect any AIs (apparently due to failing to call Init on unitsync.dll). spring.exe works fine, but seems unable to let you play an AI. TASClient launches spring but it gets stuck at "Connecting to server".
I used Spring 0.74b previously on XP SP2 and it worked seamlessly, so it's sad to see things so complicated now
