is it allowed to post your own balancechanges?

Post by Optimus Prime »

Hello

i and some friends are making our own balance for spring and i thought, that perhaps some people more want to see, what we think and what ideas we have about the word "balancing".
We are testing hard at the moment and after nearly every game, there need to be some more changes, but I think, that in some weeks we have a balanced game for both sides where nearly every Unit has its usage and is not only wasted metal and energy.

If its allowed, i will upload the file when we think its good enough...

We dont want to replace the XTA balance, but make an alternative for people, who think, that XTA is great, but could be much greater =).

Ofcourse it's allowed...
Anyway nice, I'll try it out when it's done.

What the aim, the gameplay you want to reach with your balancing mod?
How far will it be different from XTA,OTA or UH ?

I hope you will introduce new idea :)

the goal is, like i said, to balance all units so that every unit will be good on his own way and to make it a bit faster (most weapons a bit more damage or some units less HPs).
To implement that, I will put a small Rock-Siscor-Paper System like in OTA (for example Annihilators and Doomsdays much more Damage vs Krogs) and so on.
Of course some new Stuff like different Lasercolors or Burstmodes for some Rocketthrowers when I think it looks cool.

But I will tell you more, when its nearly done ;)

Edit: an important change will be, that i deleted a lot of wrecks and there i put only the heaps of them.
What that means: If u attacked in XTA or OTA with 100 Bulldogs and the enemy has only a hand full of strong units which would lose easyly against the Bulldogs, often it happens, that the Wrecks hinder your own Units to attack like they should and so you lose because of your own Units. In OTA it was possible to attack the wrecks but in XTA often the Units dont attack them if u want to, so i think its the best only to let heaps on the battlefield over which you can shoot and move. (All Buildings will let wrecks like in XTA and OTA)

That's a very crude approach!

Much better would have been to increase the CrushStrength of every units so they'd have no problem bulldozing wrecks. (/gamedata/movinfo.tdf)

Or making the wreck features passable. (/Features/Corpse/*.tdf blocking=0;)

oh that sounds good. But will Units automaticaly try to bulldoze the wrecks? Else you have the same problem like before (Units stop moving and try to search another way to the enemy and the same shit there -.-). But i will test it when i have the time for new changes :). Thx

hm that will look bad i think because its real 3d and not like in OTA in semi3D.
