Gundam rts, next release poll.

Post by smoth »

I am not really sure if many of you still want to see the next release or not. I know that there are springers that play so I am curious where those of you who are interested go for news related to gundam.

I wish I could get a lot of the latest news and screenies on springinfo, but I myself really dunno where to go for gundam news either. I mean I check your forums now and again, but I don't see much info in one place. Maybe I'm doin it rong, but honestly, you can make a post anywhere... Here, your forum, springinfo forums... or even sign up for an account at springinfo and submit it directly.

But essentially what I'm saying is, if you make a post here, format it however you like, I can take that directly and put it into a newspost while preserving the formatting.

You guys really jsut gotta give me something to work with here :-)

Smoth, if you do not want idiots voting on stupid options you should not add them

This site and moddb would be a good idea.

I mainly check this site, but I'm signed up as a watcher to your moddb, so I'm alerted if anything happens there.

have you looked at the moddb gundam news page? Outside of the period I was sick I was doing bi-monthly news updates. The reason I am asking is because to my knowledge most people here are not really interested in gundam. Where as at moddb I got about 88 watchers. Or say those of you who are registered at the fgjl you guys are pretty much shown things as they are done. Here in spring I seldom mention it because I see it as a large waste of time.

Advertise in #main and of course post on this forum, most players only check #main, a few read the forums and the other things are just obscure and mostly used by people who don't play Spring anymore.

we need unified news source!
some sort of rss-feed-pick-and-choose integrated into lobby, like #news but better!.

then smoth could post his next release and everyone would see it

either I am feeling ill or working on stuff. Most of the stuff left is really dull and tedious. so I have to just hammer away. The last phase before release always feels this way. I probably am posting another update on moddb next week detailing what is going on. I won't give a release date as my health is still... well frankly I don't know day to day what is wrong with me. Anyway, work is getting done but I cannot give a release date.

I voted FGJL. This is because everything is under your controll and you wont be trolled by forum retards because they dont have to sign up if they dont care about gundam. (also the fact it IS your site ._.)
Ofcourse you should still make a post on this site and advertise in #main and moddb, but your primary post should be in FGJL.

Hopefully lobby integration of the SpringInfo site will create a unified "official" news source for major Spring projects.

Why? I guess if you wanted to make a mod-branded lobby it would be more work, but in terms of putting a newspost onto Springinfo? Only if you want your mod in the news. I mean, right now there is no newsbox telling Spring players about Gundam in the Lobby. If you don't contribute to the newsbox? There still won't be. Net change of precisely zero.

But yeah, mod-branded lobby would be a problem.

ya I know. What I mean is this crap means I will pressured to post news on 4 sites. Believe me it was hard to get all that shit in. and god help me if forb's blog has a different format. When I release it is usually preceded by an entire website update checking all links posting a base post here and the fgjl, updating said post to the moddb format and then waiting for bugs to show up etc. Of course this never goes without last minute fixes, testing etc. Then I get mouth full of shit from the user base of this forum and the dicks in main. i remember when I first changed my gundam economy and I wrote out a nice paragraph every lazy fuck and his brother asked why. That was when I realized no one reads the damn news post so why bother.

but the thing is to upload the website, get the files up and check those links can be an hour, then there is the process of posting to all these sites, which is often a hassle and a half, that is why another thing to post to is a bitch. Also for moddb since I can post flvs I plan on a video.

releases are always really stressful. So I don't really see myself running to update another site. It is a pain in the ass to do all that stuff. I even prepair the news post in advance. that is ok, I will work on a plan for this release when it comes but I am just trying to explain. you guys act like this stuff is done in no time. Not so. I am definitely not posting news to spring info on a bi-monthly basis like I do on moddb. it is too much. I am not going to spend half my day updating a bunch of shit, if I wanted that I would join myspace or some other equally large waste of time.

I just don't think this will be a solution. I would have rather you guys have given us a mod button that I could periodically update.

I voted MODDB but I think you should also post on FGJL and this forum (by this forum I mean C&P your post on your forum).
