Re: Springie the AutoHost
Hi.
I have downloaded the latest Sprigie.
I wanna ask how exactly do i make it see all the mods i have.
Do i just put all the files in my Spring folder and run the mod and map recognizer exe?
ATM it shows me tens upon tens of CA versions for some reasons and i only have 2 or 1 in my mods folder..
It also doesn't show me the mod I wanna host with which is Supreme Annihilation.
When i put the modinfobuilder exe in my mods folder along with the moddatafile and run the exe it crashes.
I tried running it from the spring folder and than run Springie but it won't show the mods i have.

Re: Springie the AutoHost
Springie can use any map/mod registered in the torrent system. You don't need to actually have the map/mod. I am not sure if you need to put it in a special mode for that to happen, or if it is the default. This may be the reason you can see "tens of tens of versions of CA". Do you also see lots of other mods that you don't have? Sounds like you are trying to go all conspiracy theory here

Re: Springie the AutoHost
Yeah, springie needs one version of the mod in modinfo.dat (created with modinfobuilder). It can then host any version of this mod.
Re: Springie the AutoHost
Well for some reason it doesn't see SA.
Conspiracy theory..Det YOU wrote that not me.
hm i don't know what the problem is than.
How do i use modinfobuilder?do i run it from the mods folder?or the spring folder.
Also the mods list doesn't alphabetize...that's annoying as hell TBH since i apparently have like half of the CA releases on that list for some reason.

Re: Springie the AutoHost
modinfobuilder expects a commandline parameter - path to spring.
Re: Springie the AutoHost
- What is the command to set the start position to random (for preset performs for instance)?
- Why executing any preset change start position to choose?
- How do I auto-execute a preset at the start of each hosting?
Re: Springie the AutoHost
My Springie/dedicated server nolonger works.
Infolog just shows 3 lines, something similar to "using spring/mods" blah blah
Starting spring-dedicated.exe with springie8452.txt shows no errors.
If I start a springie game, the client just sits at "waiting for response" (on local machine and other machine on local network)
Which combo of springie/spring-dedicated/maps/mods actually work? Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Springie the AutoHost
Get latest dedicated server for this spring version YHCIR.
Re: Springie the AutoHost
Do you have a link to that please? I can't find which version I have, or which is the latest version.Licho wrote:Get latest dedicated server for this spring version YHCIR.
edit: using http://planetspring.free.fr/spring/dedi ... 61c117.zip works fine, thanks.

I have tried everything in these posts, upgraded Spring to latest .78.2.1 and got the spring-dedicated.exe from this post. Neither seems to work, I get the Game Locked, Game Unlocked message.
I have set springie to run spring.exe (I get further with this, but still lock/unlock quickly) and spring-dedicated.exe. Nothing seems to work..
"spring-dedicated springie8452.txt" seems to work with zero errors
not sure how to get ver of spring-dedicated.exe but it's file date is 11-21-08? Is that the latest version?
I am running XP
This is the info log

Re: Springie the AutoHost
the dedicated from the post is horribly outdated!
There is no link to latest dedicated in this thread.
join #buildserv and let it build you some.

Re: Springie the AutoHost
Also you need some spring base files not included in dedicated server. .not sure what.. take spring folder and copy dedicated there and then delete maps and mods - this will work..

Not sure how to do this, can you give a bit more info?Licho wrote:the dedicated from the post is horribly outdated!

Re: Springie the AutoHost
I put springie in the spring dir, so I should have all I need...Wonder why when I set springie to run spring.exe it doesn't work anymore though? This might explain spring-dedicated.exe but shouldn't it work with spring.exe still?Licho wrote:Also you need some spring base files not included in dedicated server. .not sure what.. take spring folder and copy dedicated there and then delete maps and mods - this will work..
Re: Springie the AutoHost
it uses spring-dedidacated
Spring exe is not needed at all
And buildserv is channel in lobby, it contains links to dedicated

Re: Springie the AutoHost
Ok got that far, but now when I try to run it I don't get the error, try with the springie script and get nothing like it's not doing anything???Licho wrote:it uses spring-dedidacated

SHIT....
Well I have tried many different versions from #buildsev but none seem to work for me. They just don't do anything when i try to run it, not even get an error when run with no script.
Oh well, have other things to go do, will jack with it later..

Thanks,smoth wrote:love the avatar rpw
OK, quick question. I am going to re-load everything.
So reload springie, get latest spring-dedicated.exe from #buildserv, then build the modinfo (??) program..
So I don't need to install spring at all, and the host should work?
Is there anything else needed, or just give it a go and try it?
:)
Re: Springie the AutoHost
I recommend you do this:
1) install spring to new folder
2) get dedicated server for 78.2.1 and copy it to the same folder
3) get mods you want to host and copy them to spring
4) use modinfo builder (run with parameter pointing to spring folder)
That should be most fail-proof way to do it.

Ok just to verify, you say spring, do you mean springie? And the mods should go in their own folder /mods yes?
Or just re-install spring?
