The host needs to be able to hard-pause the game and enable cheats for himself, hosts need to be able to boot and ban spectators, and boot players ingame. We need IP mask banning and logs for the battleroom so we can ban players even if they leave. I do not want spectators in my game when I know they are greifers anymore. When the host pauses the game, the players should not be able to unpause it. If I had been able to do that, i could have stopped Tanelorn from blowing his stuff up in my base.

Alot of people are anal about 'rushing'. Once I saw my ally use a jeffy to scout around, and ended up destroying a single enemy mex. The other person compalined, so my ally SD'd the jeffy....then the host (attackee) exited the server.hrmph wrote:My only experience with that guy was about a month ago... I attacked him with 2 freakers early on and he said something like 'damn rushers' and left the game. After that I saw he made a post about gamer ethics or something, how hilarious.
Another time, someone left the game because I rushed them....with 5 peepers. Crazy powerful they are.

Well, make it an option, I suppose. But still, that's giving too much power to the host. I mean, enable .cheat for the host? That's a bit too much. To solve the tanelorn problem, I still think we should just blacklist all his know aliases, and just add to that list when he creates more aliases. Also, maybe a more strict registration processes could help. For example, requiring a vaild e-mail for each registration, so he'll also have to create new e-mail accounts when making new aliases. The point is, to make it troublesome enough for him that he'll stop at some point. Maybe IP banning could work, but people complain about dynamic IPs.

Everyone has made way more of a monster out of tanelorn then really exists. He's largely just unskilled and annoying. He tends to do things like randomly deciding his team has lost the game and destroying them all to end things faster. I don't think I've ever seen him maliciously screw over a game just to screw it over though. Some people have a no quit mentality, tanelorn does not.
What really gets me is how everyone is discussing hostname IP bans and all this crap. YOU ARE NOT BEING CONTINUOUSLY GREIFED BY TANELORN! THERE IS MORE THEN ONE PERSON IN THE WORLD WHO CAN GRIEF A GAME, STOP BLAMING ALL GREIFAGE ON A GUY WHO HAS YET TO PROVE HE HAS EVEN DONE IT ONCE! If you acctually banned tanelorn in the first place you have no proof that he would even try to make a new account, why make a big deal about it? Really, there is no grounds to ban him in the first place. Min3mat is the one who has been flaming him over the forums, he has done precious little in retaliation even. Why does he deserve a ban? He has yet to even break any rules (as if we really even have rules now)
I don't see why people hate balance threads to much. Can you really not stand it that much that someone else has opinions contrary to yours? You need to strike out as if the creation of balance threads is some unacceptable spam that shouldn't exist on the forums? Seems like balance threads are one of the most relevent things you could possibly talk about on the TAS forums to me.
It makes me sick that 2 weeks ago it was basicly just Min3mat crucading out against one guy, and now people have created this persona around him that probably doesn't even exist. Yes, why don't we all go and ban people for monsterous crimes that we created in our own minds!

no one said ne thing bout baning him from the forums, we were just saying that we should have an option for the host to ban people from their server if they don't like them. I personally, think it's a reasonable request. I'm sure that if hes ne sort of respectable person he only used Tanelorn as an example and didn't intend to start some flaming war.
However I do not believe cheating should be an option for online battles, maybe for lan ones but definitely not online.
These options are already in every other online game as it is a definite necessity and I'm sure it will be added to this game.

So include a feature where a host can add IPs to a .txt file on thier comp and will automatically block those specific people from joining that person's game along with hosting players being able to call IP adresses out of replays they have recorded of games. All this talk about dynamic IPs and blocking host names, why don't we cross that bridge when we come to it. I personally doubt tanelorn has even created a single smurf name, let alone has a dynamic IP in order to avoid small scale in game bans.t9999clint wrote:no one said ne thing bout baning him from the forums, we were just saying that we should have an option for the host to ban people from their server if they don't like them. Swift, I dont like balance threads, not because I dont like talk voer balance, but because when one starts, 4 mroe appear and you have to keep track of 3+ threads all on different topics, all intermittently arguing over random pointless thigns or squabbles, such as those over tanelorn.
I'd find ti advisable that tanelorn used a single alias when playing and that you dotn play him fi you dont wan to play him, otherwise if you've got nothing nice to say dont say it.

lol he's only bad compared to evil =>he's alright something wrong with ur logic here!
as for dealing with it EVERYONE has made suggestions but tbh they are extreme (even for tanelorn) i reckon that from now on if someone has a rep with someone bad-mouthing or cheating (com-bomb etc aren't cheating just cheap :>) then that person should be IP blocked (or w/e) from playing spring for say a week or two

If we get legitimate cheaters lets IP ban them. Then again, it's pretty hard to prove someone is cheating in a game like spring.Min3mat wrote:lol he's only bad compared to evil =>he's alright something wrong with ur logic here!

ip ban and such are too much for taking care of, too much moderation.
i say you talk with the offenders, and try to get a better behaviour.
(sorry dave for insulting you last game).
if that doesnt work, just use the .kick command, in lobby or in game.
Just reject players you are suscpicious of being bad behaved.
Play with ppl you know, or friends of them that are trusted.
that should work.
tanelorn is just too impulsive, he has not bad gameplay, but is impatient.
too bad for him.

Agreed. I was talking about cheaters, IE people who use third party software or hack the spring software to give themselfs an unfair advantage in gameplay. People who cheat have no interest in gameplay or fairness. In those cases hard bans are acceptable in my opinion.mongus wrote:ip ban and such are too much for taking care of, too much moderation.

However, the only cheat possible in spring is some sort of visibility hack, because cheats that actually modify game state would unsync the game.
So the replay won't help you very much, since it would be really hard to spot a cheater with such a visibility hack.
Anyway I don't think cheating will be big problem with spring.
