Widget mess!!!
I suggest a widget/gadget svn.
why?
ATM there are many small widgets adding all kinds of small functions.
Some functions are very similair or are in the same category.
If all the code was on the net widget compilations could be made and each dev could than update his part in the compilation without forcing someone who made a compilation to hunt for new updates for all the widgets he has made a compilation of...This would also require outo widget updates in the spring downloader.
So someone makes a compilation of a few widgets and when a widget creator changes his widget the compilation changes automatically and is than updated on a player's computer.
This would make the widget database management and widget hunting by players much more user friendly.

Re: Widget mess!!!
SpringDownloader has a Widgets module...
what do you want that it doesn't do?
Far more important, imo, is asuite of widgets tied together into a fast, streamlined interface. No, IceUI doesn't do this. What we need is something that can hold its own against SupCom's interface, yet still be customizable.

Re: Widget mess!!!
Well than there needs to be a specific dev page for widgets where widget devs can discuss their widget and a central widgets effort ...
The spring downlaoder doesn't update them for the user and it should also divide them into categories in the menu.
I think the CA dev cycle would actually be perfect for widgets if there can be a,say, every 3 days update of widgets.

Re: Widget mess!!!
lol.Didn't notice that.
Still would be a good idea to have a code database where people can easily toy around with widgets and assemble a few to create something new..wouldn't it be better?
It would encourage more teamwork don't you think?
Which is quit necessary to create a new UI for example(a big and complex project).

What exactly do you mean by "code database"?Gota wrote: Still would be a good idea to have a code database where people can easily toy around with widgets and assemble a few to create something new..wouldn't it be better?
Re: Widget mess!!!
I just mean for all widgets to be deved through an svn and always have the latest widgets with the latest code on there for everyone to see and be able to modify..very_bad_soldier wrote:What exactly do you mean by "code database"?Gota wrote: Still would be a good idea to have a code database where people can easily toy around with widgets and assemble a few to create something new..wouldn't it be better?

Re: Widget mess!!!
viewing != using tho
Re: Widget mess!!!
True, but was i wrong saying its easier to cooperate when your working through an svn?koshi wrote:viewing != using tho
Re: Widget mess!!!
imo multiple people working on multiple not really connected projects + one single svn = fail
depends ofc on your idea of "dev'ing"
either way svn as distribution mechanism is not at all end user friendly

Re: Widget mess!!!
The end user interface would be the SD widget tab.
Re: Widget mess!!!
Ha ha, classic! Have you ever tried to write a mod for Supcoms UI? Let's just say it's no coincidence that only 2 or 3 major UI mods were ever created. You may think Spring is ugly but that doesn't make Supcom Cinderella, as far as UI modding goes anyway.MidKnight wrote:Far more important, imo, is asuite of widgets tied together into a fast, streamlined interface.
