Better visual matching of colors to players please!
A really simple suggestion, but that will really help in multiplayer games with more that 2 players, especially 3v3 or larger:
- When you receive chat messages, can the player names appear in their player color?
- When you point at a unit on the map, could we please see the owner's name in the unit description at the lower left? The commanders of course should simply display the player's name, as in TA, instead of "Commander Commander".
- Could the labels of starting points read the name of the player instead of, or in addition to, "player 0", "player 1", etc.?
I know many people are having a hard time remembering who was which color after that game starts, so this will really help ally communication.

Thanks, I'll use it.FolCan wrote:Well you can see whos what colour by using the .info command
that shows colour, name and some other stuff
But, I've been on this board since the first day and I didn't know that. What about newbies? What about a natural and easier way to get that info than to type a command, when you already have your hands full?

I've been on these boards for not very long in comparison to you, but I knew it. If you don't know something about the game just complain in game, most likely one of the people you are playing about knows the elusive hot key that produces the effect you want.Gabba wrote:Thanks, I'll use it.FolCan wrote:Well you can see whos what colour by using the .info command

Although a standard SY updated .txt file somewhere really wouldn't hurt, I must agree.

this request is good addition to my "idea" here http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2320

Don't forget this is a game in-development, and what's more, open-source. So any change that's a real improvement and doesn't add inconvenients will eventually be included. Especially in this case, the changes I'm proposing are SO easy to code for the SYs or any of the good programmers around here, I bet it will get into the next version.SwiftSpear wrote:I've been on these boards for not very long in comparison to you, but I knew it. The point of mentioning how much time I've been on this board is just to highlight how much a newbie can get frustrated, and leave disgusted if he's not as enthusiastic as some of us. You shouldn't have to type a command for something so basic, period.
As for an updated readme, I have an idea: what if we post the actual content of the readme on the wiki, call it "unofficial readme", and add all the useful undocumented commands to it? Then if they like it the SY can add it as readme to their next release, and so on. They have said themselves that their main strenght is not documentation, so let's help them out!

It's really old and outdated, but that's exactly what I'm talking about. I already added most of the build commands, everyone else pitch in and fill it out. Lets try to have it structured so that every hot key command can be seen in that open menu when we're finished.SinbadEV wrote:YES! WHY DON'T WE MAKE OUR OWN README... WE COULD PUT IT... That's pretty good, but it doesn't get distributed with the game. That's why, if people agree with the idea, I think we should copy the official readme in the wiki and add all that info to it. Then the SY can distribute it with the game - or at least link to it from the readme you download.SinbadEV wrote:YES! WHY DON'T WE MAKE OUR OWN README... WE COULD PUT IT...
