Spring Crash - BA 6.6 - Developer Question Added!

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 Conroe 2.13GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core
Asus p5n32-sli deluxe MB
Memory:
CORSAIR XMS2 DOMINATOR 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)


It seems I can play through a multiplayer game most of the time,
but if it's very random if i use email or web browse i get a crash usually about after 5 to 10 minutes. I cannot figure out the crash log. So I figured i could get some help here. My rig is very stable, I played BF2 for the last 3 years and never crash, the system never crashes, I built it using the best stuff at the time.. it's a few years old now.

I tried the threaded optimization off.. different resolutions etc. can't pin it down. I do know if i play on neurope i crash every time after about 5 to 15 minutes. I can play it fine if i host and add a bot.

Since I do quite a bit of programming. I'm going to ask this question, is there is a way to run this is a development environment so i can see where the crashes are occurring and maybe shed some light on this? I''m willing to spend the time to figure this out.

I guess this would be a question for one of the developers..

look in the development forum, there should be everything you need there.

you'll need to get mingw gcc (suggest tdragon's builds), msysgit and spring mingwlibs (link is there somewhere.) some gdb-fu will be needed unless you manage to run the code in an ide of some kind, like codeblocks.

Thank you for the upload, but watching it didn't reproduce the problem. OTOH that's not terribly surprising though, since GuiTraceRay is unsynced code (used only by the UI and certain Lua widgets). Hopefully you can catch this one in the act. ;)

thanks for lookin. what did you mean by NaN's being passed around...

You know this seems to happen when i play with certain players, last couple of nites it's been no problem, This is a hunch but with i play
with experienced players it seems to crash on my more, I'm not sure why though.

Also If i get the dev software up and going, I'm taking it I can play a game while in the the software and have it stop on errors... like in visual studio I can run my program and when error runs it's trapped and I can then see the code and then look at what has caused the error.. I'm probably simplifying this as the code I'm sure is pretty complicated.

NaNs as in special floats that mean Not-a-Number. they're usually created when diving by value close to 0, then propagate through the data unnoticed until something bad happens.

not loaded dev stuff yet, but i had a hunch of what was crashing spring. I believe it's the nano's. I think i was doing somthing i should not have been doing, I would tell the const bit to build say 4 or 5 of them and once the 1st one was built i would click on it and click on repeat and then roam and then on the next turrent being built. Sometimes i would get ahead on myself and click on the turrent before it was completely built and click on repeat and roam and click on nothing .ie. the ground.. and i would have the command click and go on with my other stuff, i believe when i click on the unfinished nano and gave it a command to repeat and then roam and clicked on the ground this setoff the chain which i think leads to the NaN's.. and then crash.

What i've done since my last post is to use the Lau immobile builder and do not touch the nano's and I've not crashed since.. not one time.
I think obviously i should have used this lua in the beginning but in reality a noob - me in this case did not take the time to look into the automated stuff.
