Post by Beherith »

Hear ye hear ye!

All of you whining for a balanced 16 player FFA map look no further.

Come mosh with the monsters!

But dont let your neighbours build guardians!

Hey! Even though i have big doubts and hatred towards ffa's, especially huge as this, the concept seems really cool. I bet it will be fun ! :D

Great job Behe! Well... it looks artificial but in a good way!

Also, there's no reason you couldn't use it for teamgames too - look at StarCraft, where most maps are designed for FFA but play just fine for teams. FFA-maps-for-teams are nice because if one player is gutted, the natural barriers between his base and his teammates mean it is non-trivial to gut the next player, unlike, say, DSD where it's simple to run north/south once you've punched into somebody's home.

I am impressed that you could pull off that heightmap but I don't know if it would play out well.

Well I was thinking that ppl were whining too much about imba FFA maps.
Thats the reason I kept it artificial looking. Any divergence from it could have led to cries of imba. Radial symmetry was the only way I was gonna get equal start points.
This is not serious map :P Put it together while speccing some Mearth games.

Not saying I wouldnt like to play it, I just have no clue how it would play :)

Could you make a 32x32 map called 16 islands? :P

Am I the only one who looks at this map and sees 16 little penises?

Also, you don't really need a perfectly-round map for 16-player balanced FFA - an octagon would do, since an octagon has 16 congruent locations.

That's quite impossible as the host was a dedicated server (and yes, he has the correct mapfile, too)
