read some inspirational novels or watch some movies that make your artistic side get a hard on?

That one doesn't work so well for me, I feel that watching most movies is a waste of time, so I only watch decent ones. At the moment, I'm kind've making a few different ideas and modeling simple things, it seems to be working, at least I'm doing something.

Okay, i admit my last comment was just a little bit biased :-)

I'd say:
read books (preferably fiction) and play different (IE: not rts) video games. I got a lot of inspiration from supcom (even though actual gameplay in supcom is imo horrible)

Makes me wonder if dragon actually trolled or just posted that in red to confuse everyone. I don't remember anybody every changing it to trollity troll troll before, though "Nothing to see here, move along" seems to be the standard.

Anyways, I think I've kicked the block's ass... For now.

Someone on polycount said it would also make a great SMG, so, there it is. The MGL I made in SMG form.

I don't know what redacted means:P , anyway, let's get back on topic, I like your gun alot, but I think it's a bit... plump.

If you're bored with modeling/texturing you should try something else, maybe start making music, it's alot of fun.

Well, initially it was a grenade launcher, so yeah, it is going to be a bit large/thick. More of a combat rifle than an SMG, now, actually. SMGs are generally a lot shorter and more made for urban combat.

Yeah, I do need to texture something. I haven't textured in a few months. Maybe I'll hit this one up after I've seen what all I can do with it.

Usually when I get a block.. I just shift to a completely different set or work.

Like with these TA models I've been making, I get bored of doing 1 thing, so I'm now switched back to helping make guns and props for my HL-2 mod team.

The 1 thing you never want to do is to stop working completely or each day that passes you will feel less and less like going back to work on anything.

Then it almost takes a miracle of inspiration to get you back and going on past works, or even new projects.

So just rotate around on the kinds of projects that you work on if you get stumped.
If you're sick of modeling for a bit, pick up a pen or pencil and do some sketching by hand or on an art program and work on some design.

If you're sick of texturing or unwrapping, go back to modeling and work on refining your work or making things more efficient ect. or just play around with more of an art only project for fun.

Try making a believable tree, or a detailed building with rooms, or an animal, or anything that is away from your normal style of work, and see if it challenges you.

Its always good to try new things, and never forget that there are also good things outside of working on this evil box we call the computer, there is a world outside too

fucking bullshit.

Proportionally that gun still looks like an SMG, not a rifle. Maybe a carbine.

I'd even make the barrel thicker and try to give it a "silencer" feel, that'd be cool. It looks slightly similar to the G36.. and try giving it a drum magazine! SMGs and rifles with drum magazines are fuckin' hawt.

The Best thing i can recomend against artist Block- don´t force yourself into it- out of duty or whatever.. you will loose the fun of something completely, or even start to hate it, because there will be no more reward(creations)

Instead, step back from the standard business, try something completley diffrent you have never done before. Start Pottery, paint in watercolours - whatever- and consume.. i hate to say that, but most inspiration needs a source to be recombined from. So take exoctic Art- old Robots or TrashFiction/Fantasy from the 50s, search yourself a way through cheap secondhand scifi books on amazon.
Take a empty sheet of paper and a pencil with you, wherever you go, not to produce imidiatly something, but as a constant reminder, that you expect something every second..

Last Thing - don´t worry. Inspiration can only be stopped by Death or sever BrainDamage- in both cases it´s no use worrying anyway.

PS: Sometimes a simple Holiday has the same curing effect..
