Good ISPs in Oregon?

Post by bobthedinosaur »

I recently moved to Oregon and was told when we moved into our new apartment that we could only take Comcast or Quest as ISPs. Hearing some rather disturbing information on comcast (and their idea's of a future pay for your part internet service), I decided to go with Qwest (which was also mistake). I was hoping they would be more customer oriented like COX which I was used to in Southern California, and alternative from the mega communications groups. Its too bad every one I talk to on the phone from their department seem to be very impatient, ignorant of their technical support skills, and just plain horrible customer service. Well after being hooked up with them for almost a week now I still have no internet... YAY!!
Im finding it hard to believe that there is only two options for broadband service and was wondering if any one else has broadband in the Portland area that is not rather shitty please share your knowledge. Or, maybe Im an idiot for being too rash about some stupid hear say on comcast and I should try using them... Any one actually like comcast, and are they so much better than qwest?

if you really need good pipes look into business-class DSL/cable. almost twice as expensive but may be worth it if you really need it. support is also a lot better for business-class customers.

i have a wireless connection that im 'borrowing' yet its slow and i would like my own broadband. i just cant believe how ridiculously lowsy of a customer service qwest is. i havent canceled from them yet but i feel like demanding pro rate for their very late service, and if they dont maybe ill switch to comcast. :(

Do complain, and if the first person you talk to does nothing its probably because they cant so ask for their manager or whatev. I dont like doing it but my girlfriend managed to get us a much cheaper deal with charter in michigan doing it haha. Just try to be kind of nice about it, but complaining works; I think all she really did was say ok then how do I cancel my service? and they fixed the problem immediately.
