Error on game start

When a game is launched i recieve an error, stating that "the application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) click OK to terminate the application)

If anyoone knows what this means, or how to fix, it id appreciate some help D:

intel core 2 duo t8300 processors (2.4ghz each)
3gigs RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS graphics card
duo 110 gig hard drives
