Dear all,
I am running Ubuntu Intrepid, and I used to play Spring back in the day on my Windows-machine, so I wanted to try it on my Ubuntu machine.
I added the intrepid repository, and installed via Synaptic. (via metapackage).
When I start Springlobby for the first time, it lets me choose the SpringData folder structure. The first time I chose the first option, "Do nothing". Then it asks me to download ota-content, I click yes.
I then immediately get the message it has been succesfully downloaded and unpacked in /home/bart/.spring/base/base-ota-content.zip
There is however only a ArchiveCacheV7.lua in ~/.spring
Then, the moment I login to the server I get the error: Couldn't get your spring versions from any unitsync library. Online play is disabled.
Then I deleted every spring folder in my home folder and reinstalled through synaptic. This time I chose "Create a folder in a custom path. (you´ll get prompted for the path)". Then I get a error that /home/bart/spring doesn't exist. I then point Springlobby to ~/.spring instead (mind the dot!)
I then get the error
Something went wrong when creating the directories
Please create manually the following folders:
/home/bart/.spring
/home/bart/.spring/mods
/home/bart/.spring/maps
/home/bart/.spring/base
I then created them manually. Then I get prompted for the ota-base content. Now it takes about ten seconds and then I get prompted it has been succesfully unzipped in ~/.spring/base and that is correct!
In Springlobby the location of the spring executable was automatically set to /usr/games/spring , which exists. The location of the unitsync library is set to /usr/lib/spring/unitsync.so, which also exists.
The moment I connect to the server, I once again get the message:
Couldn't get your spring versions from any unitsync library. Online play is disabled.
What am I doing wrong?
