New Map - Sierra

Post by SirArtturi »

Hello !

Heres new map - Sierra

It's basically designed to be kbot map but some vechile spamming might work too :>
Its 14x14 4v4 north vs south. Can be played various styles though like 2v2 corners or 3v3 east vs west

I tried the map with some pine tree features. SpikedHelmets pines and springs default but they didnt to fit in the map...

If you have any suggestion shoot it out and I'll may consider to implement them!

Download here : http://spring.jobjol.nl/show_file.php?id=1602

Looks cool, maybe some features like rocks would be nice if they fit in.
I see vehicles going up the hills, are you sure this would tactically turn out a kbot map? Well, maybe in CA, but in BA? How many places can vehicles go up hills?

rocks are quite tricky if you made include metal to them. So they should be placed in extreme carefulness. This map aint symmetrical so i rather leave it without rocks...

Vechiles can pass almost every hill, but slopes should make them less powerful, but as i said before as one tactical element, not just instant win.

I am not saying you should put rocks in, the map is nice as-is, but if anyone ever wants to put some props in without affecting the tactics of the game, just make up an excuse not to put metal in :p.(Or very little) Call them siliconrocks, sandrocks or sandstone or something. Should have different models, though.

Is it possible to stop trees from burning or stop a burning tree from lighting up trees that are next to it?i wanna make dense forests but i dont want them to burn down when one of the trees lights up.

It would be cool if trees left charred stumps after they burned, too.

Thanks for all the feedback. It has been mostly positive.

Only thing that im still wondering is that why its not played. I hosted many games and had really hard time to get players.

Some complains that its unbalanced because its not symmetrical. I disagree, however im not happy about the fact that bottom start area is bigger/larger than the top.
As also, some people are disliking it because its too "hard" in a sense that it is really fast and porcing is almost impossible.

Lacking of epicness makes it not so popular I think.

what is it about with those trees ? Is it that in xta they fail or is it that they look bad ? Is the trees so crucial change that you cant play v2 ?

On a more serious note, I think both versions of the map are quite nice, and I love the way you get those nice rings around the sides of the hills. I imagine the real problem is just the massive number of maps available for spring now, and it is hard for most players to find the really good ones. (Like this). Most spring players never even visit the forums.

User Map Discussion has always been like a "Rate and Review" among mappers and the hardcore players.
