Dropped players should start in their own start box
I think this is really annoying, cause there are always a few players in big games who drop, and sticking them in the top left corner isnt the smartest idea.
Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
dunno if the LUA is only in CA (cos i dont play BA) but all players of one team start in there startbox even if they drop

Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
If a player drops and his com gets into the wrong corner, it's an engine bug. Fixing it by LUA is retard.
Stop LUAing for nothing.

Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
wrong.
lua can be used to fix engine bugs now, whereas you'd have to wait an undetermined amount of time for an engine release.

Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
It's more fun to exploit engine bugs with lua.
Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
A fix should still be propagated in the engine though.
Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
Sure it can be for quick fix but as a temporary solution. If all engine issues are fixed through LUA, it would result in a huge mess...imbaczek wrote:wrong.

Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
not denying that. just saying that having an option to work around the bug is much better than not having it.

failures upon failures.
Nothing is a bug, its a feature. Its only a bug when you start crying that your com got dgunned.
Lua is there to control which features are in a mod and which are not.
Noize wanted, or allowed perhaps this feature to be in his mod, by not providing the necessary lua to prevent something happening otherwise.

oh give it up Trib. I sincerely doubt that anyone, ever, intended that 1 player dropping from a game gives a 50% chance that the entire game gets ruined.Tribulex wrote:Noize wanted, or allowed perhaps this feature to be in his mod, by not providing the necessary lua to prevent something happening otherwise.
And afaik Noize doesnt know Lua (or only knows basic Lua)

Re: Dropped players should start in their own start box
so you are saying that games being ruined when a dropped players comm spawns in the wrong teams box is desirable?
o_O
anyway, from accidentally forgetting to set an ai start pos it seems they spawn on their player number start pos, a few simple checks could make it so that a player with no start pos defined will get one of the map-defined start positions in their own teams start box
