What on earth happened in there? As far as i know, several people attacked hotels and a synagogue, with the death toll rising to a hundred, or more. It also looks like a suicide attack since nobody has made any demands after they took people in the hotels hostage.

0827 Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee says elements in Pakistan were responsible for the attacks in Mumbai, according to the Press Trust of India (PTI).

One guy was on C4 news quoted as demanding "all Mujhadeen in jails be released" or the killing would continue. Which is as good declaring it to be a suicide attack afaics.

One of the guys who was shot there is a friend of mine, afaik he remains in critical condition after being shot in the chest, his wife was shot in the foot.

Motivation for the attacks was still distinctly unclear last time I checked; there are a myriad of factions potentially behind it.

Sorry to hear that, i hope he makes a recovery. It seems that there were only a few finns the area, with one being slightly injured

To me it seemed pretty random, some sources say they attacked the hotels in search of us and british tourists, but there has also been attacks on the local police station, and train-station(some photos of these sites very showing it to be in a very bad shape with blood everywhere). So it isnt aimed at attacking only the local populace or helding some tourists hostage.

What also baffles me is the type of the attack, its not a suicide bombing, or planting a bomb into a crowd, but a full assault into the city. To me it seems that they must've had some group backing them down, since they allegdly had a lot of explosives (they blew up a gas station) , and apparently thousands of dollars and indian money on them.

also the indian authorities seem to be handling the incident rather well, with police and army being all over the place providing protection

Circumstances must have afforded them (the terrorists) the opportunity to pull off this kind of an assault without getting thwarted during the planning stages. Either way, good to see Indian forces responding, but an attack like this doesn't give you much more time to react than say a small-scale suicide bomb attack.

0928 Claims that Britons were among the attackers in Mumbai are being investigated by the UK Foreign Office. The Indian news channel, NDTV, earlier reported that the gunmen had included "British citizens of Pakistani origin".

Wouldn´t be surprised if pakistan Officials did look away from this Attack building up, no cold-war-peak ever came more handy. They surely are in desperate need of a comon foe... after undecided months between the American War on Terror and the Madressas(ISI).

And as far as i know, Indias Hinduextremists weren´t that friendly either, the last Massacer with hundreds of Death isn´t long ago... Guess it will be civil war, combined with Cashmirconflict, combined with Nuclear Warheads on both sides...

14 % Percent of Indias People are Muslims.. they have the highest unemployed Rate (38%), even compared to the Pariah-class. PS: x= Gujarat, the years was 2002, but unfortunatly it was no real murder or terror, because the major public took part and the Goverment of the District supported it..
